India's World Cup jersey



Here is a look at how India’s World Cup jersey has evolved over the years.

1992 - First colored jersey, Dark Blue

Coloured Jerseys were used for the first time in 1992.
The fifth edition of ICC Cricket World Cup was played in the year 1992 with Australia and New Zealand being the host countries. This year was as a remarkable one in the history of Cricket World Cup as the players donned coloured jerseys for the first time in it. India sported a blue-coloured World Cup jersey with yellow, green, red and white as the secondary colours.

1996 - Light blue with Yellow

Team India changed their jersey colour from Dark Blue to light blue in the year 1996.
ICC continued colored jerseys in the next World Cup. India changed its primary colour of jersey from Dark Blue to Light Blue in the year 1996.
There was a patch of yellow color in the middle of the t-shirts, with the nation’s name written over it. The collars of the t-shirts were also yellow. Also, rainbow-colored arrows ran across the front of the shirt and down the sleeves as team India represented the country in front of the home fans in the 1996 World Cup.

1999 - Light Blue with Yellow

India made some changes with their yellow pattern for the 1999 ICC Cricket World Cup.
India made some changes in their jersey for the 1999 World Cup. They did not alter their primary color light blue, but they changed the yellow pattern of the jersey.
It was resembling the 1996 jersey, but the designers added more of yellow to the kit. The yellow collars got a black border while there was a diagonal yellow pattern running across the t-shirts.

2003 - Light Blue with a tri-colour on it

India had a tri-colour in the center part of their jersey for the 2003 ICC World Cup.
The Indian tri-color is a symbol of pride for any Indian. The Indian side had the honor of wearing the tri-color in the year 2003 as their jersey featured a tri-colour with the team name written on it. The designers darkened the primary blue color which added a whole new beauty level to the jersey.
Yellow color was absent from the jersey as the players had black patches on their jerseys. and along the arms of the t-shirts.

2007 - Light Blue with a tri-colors on the right side

India's most dismal World Cup campaign
.India made a huge change to its jersey in the year 2007. The jersey had light blue colour as its primary color with a tri-colour stripe on the right side.
Speaking about the jersey, there was also a white stripe of the team’s sponsors on the left-arm while ‘India’ was written with yellow color on the chests.

2011 - Dark Blue with tri-colour on both the sides

India lifted their 2nd World Cup title in the year 2011.
India had a great edition of ICC World Cup in the year 2011 as they claimed their 2nd title. The side had changed their jersey and added a darker shade of blue for this edition.
The designers used orange color to write the team’s name on the chests while they also added tri-color on the both the sides of the jersey. Sahara India was the kit sponsor from 2002-2013 until Star India took over from 2014-2017.

#7 2015 (Dark Blue with Orange)

India made their 2015 World Cup jersey from recycled bottles
In 2015, Indian designers used recycled plastic bottles to manufacture the beautiful blue jersey for the World Cup. They also made the primary colour darker than the previous jerseys.
This was one of the simplest Indian jerseys in World Cup history and the team’s name was written in orange with a white border.

#8 2019 ( Home jersey- Blue, Away Jersey- Orange)

India will releasing an orange jersey as their away jersey in 2019 ICC World Cup.
ICC has gained a huge plethora of fans over the years because of their innovative concepts. Following the trend, ICC introduced the home and away concept for the 12th edition of ICC Cricket World Cup.
India is donning the primary blue jersey for their home matches and the board has selected orange as their away jersey color. As the BCCI has not released the jersey so far, the cricketing world has been on the edge of their seats to see the new jersey.
