Jamunia The tale of an orphan, Jamunia revolved around the titular character whose maternal uncle marries her off into a rich haveli for money. And how the intrigue unfolds since this rich haveli is cursed and no woman has ever survived there. One of the few daily soaps to be shot in actual location, the entire cast and crew spent months in Kawartha palace in Chattisgarh to bring authenticity to the show. Promoted as the never-before-explored-territory on small screen, audience refused to tread those lines. |

Sarvagunn Sampanna After finding great success with 'Pavitra Rishta' and decent TRPs with 'Bairi Piya', Ekta Kapoor launched another show 'Sarvagunn Sampanna' with Marathi flavour. Set in Kolhapur, the story followed Swara Rajay Deshmuk, a young Marathi girl who earns her daily bread through Lavani dance. It died an early death too. |

Mera Naam Karegi Roshan Producer J D Majethia's show had Sana Shaikh in the lead along with Vikram Gokhale, Yashpal Sharma, Lubna Salim amongst others. The storyline followed Reet on her journey of living out her father's biggest dream even as she must deal with constant opposition from society. It failed miserably. The efforts of the channel did not pay off even after changing the lead actress Sana Shaikh with Amrapali Dubey and it went off-air within six months of its debut. |

Powder The entry of Yash Raj Films in the domain of television with five shows was accompanied by a lot of hullaballoo thanks to their track record in films. 'Powder', one of the five shows was set against the narcotic trade in the back-drop of today's Mumbai. This fast paced, high octane drama told the tale of durg lord, Naved Ansari, and an honest team of Narotics Control Bureau led by Usmaan Malik. This thrilling show was one step towards coming of age of Indian television. But it failed to find takers being pitted against well established shows. |

Seven - The Ashvamedh Prophecy Inspired by our mythological stories, the show was about seven ordinary people from different parts of India with extra-ordinary powers fighting the ultimate battle of Good vs Evil. To fulfill an ancient prophecy and save the world. Another show from YRF bouquet, it was laced with special effects and had interesting camerawork. The TRPs registered were far from encouraging. Even the promotional expenses worth Rs 50 lakh (reportedly) could not garner audience attention. |
