Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai Review: Namit Khanna’s screen presence and the dialogues will keep you hooked

Here is our review of the show

It was a packed Monday night on TV with three shows launching on the same date. The makers of Ek Duje Ke Vaaste came up with their second show on Sony TV, Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai. It is an urban love story of two contrasting personalities and their emotional conflicts. It is set in Delhi. The show also marks the TV debut of model-actor Namit Khanna who was last seen on Twisted with Nia Sharma. He is paired with debutante Palak Jain. With the show coming on the same day as Jennifer Winget’s Bepannaah, it surely lost out on a bit of attention. Here is our first impression…

What is it about…
Anushka Reddy (Palak Jain) is the sensitive daughter of a business tycoon. She was in love with Siddhanth Sinha (Namit Khanna), who happens to be the son of her father’s lawyer and close aide. However, as a teenager she could not express her feelings. Siddhanth is an ambitious young man who feels his father did not get what he deserves and wants the short cut to success. His ideology does not match with his father’s. After nine years, Anushka returns home after studying abroad and discovers that her feelins for Siddhanth haven’t faded away. Siddhanth is also troubled by how his relationship with Anushka ended and is conflicted about his emotions. What’s hot…

Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai is high on dialogue-baazi. If you are bored with the banal dialogues in 95 per cent dailies, try out this show. The lines make an impact and everyone believes in making a statement. What we liked best was here we had a father telling his daughter to work and have more options in life, rather than just focus on shaadi. Namit Khanna makes an instant impact as Siddhanth Sinha. While his body language might be a little stiff in places, he has the expressive eyes and baritone to make up for it. He looks damn hot as well. Palak, as the tentative sensitive Anushka is different from the overtly chirpy girls we see on most soaps. This makes it quite refreshing. Alka Amin, Ankit Raaj and the actors who play Namit and Palak’s dads also stand out. The production values are much above average. The real locations make it much better than the mundane.

What’s Not
Anushka’s character is that of a South Indian but we did not need the extra Idli – Dosa stereotyping here. There is no doubt that Namit is good-looking but the extra stylized shots to make him look even more desirable are jarring after a point. They don’t serve any purpose. Like we said, the dialogues are very good but too much of it spoils the show, at times.

Verdict
If you like contemporary love stories, you can surely try out Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hain. Efforts like these need support if viewers want to break free from the regular rut of regressive content.

#Review: 'Family Time With Kapil Sharma' falls FLAT & is a complete LETDOWN




India's most loved (also most controversial) comedian,
Kapil Sharma finally made his much-anticipated comeback to television with a new show, Family Time With
Kapil Sharma, following the abrupt shutdown of The
Kapil Sharma Show last year.

The man has a barrage of fans, and albeit his controversial nature is always a concern, no one can deny that he still is the same man, Indian folks love to see.

Promising to be back with a fresh concept, Family Time With
Kapil Sharma finally went on-air last night and here's what we think, it turned out to be.

The Concept
The concept of the show is truly a 'refreshing' one, unless you haven't seen shows like Sab Khelo Sab Jeeto, Super Sale or Khulja Sim Sim in the past. Yes! Basically, there is no novelty in the crux, where the done-to-death idea of families coming in and participating in small games and winning hampers is seen multiple times over the years.

The only kicker for this show is that it is backed by Kapil's comic prowess and engaging abilities. But, from a small segment of stand-up comedy to families playing games and forgettable cameos by Chandan Prabhakar and Kiku Sharda, it all seems too much for a rational viewer to endure.

And that 'too much' is what is the biggest flaw of the show as one segment overpowers the other with such magnitude, that you feel really exhausted witnessing at several instances.

The Good

Easy to be picked, there were only two high-points in the show. For starters, Kapil's opening act of stand-up comedy and secondly, flickers of the segment, when Ajay Devgn came in.

There hardly can be any questioning about Kapil's absolute supremacy on comedy and the same was on display as he opened the show with a decent gig. There were some good jokes and fair audience interaction to keep you buckled up for the rest of the show.

And cut to the part, where
Ajay Devgn came in, the banter, comedy and jokes was also a fun segment overall.

The Not-So-Good

I am not saying that the family segment was a complete disaster, as I liked the fact that there wasn't unwanted interaction except when the participant families came in the picture to play games. But, when you see
Kapil Sharma onstage, you may be fine with a bit of time being absorbed by others, but certainly not by 'family-gathering-worthy' games. The 1 minute and 2 minute games become so uninteresting, that you immediately want to switch the channel.





Okay! It is about time, one addresses this. There is simply no role whatsoever for Navjot Singh Sidhu to be on that chair and laugh for literally no reason. I sort-of accepted his 'tiny' role in The
Kapil Sharma Show, where he would be witty at times and of course, his 'flirty' shayris. But, here he does absolutely nothing at all. Instead, when the games are going on, you are forced to hear his cringing loud laugh for no purpose at all.





Neha Pendse tries her level best to try and establish her ground standing next to THE
Kapil Sharma, but unfortunately doesn't succeed. The biggest flaw, however, is not that! When you're sharing a skit or stage with a man like Kapil, getting overpowered is the easiest thing.

However, Neha could have made her role genuinely worthy by covering it up and interacting with the participant families. Her social s****s, however, did not be of much impact and her gig falls flat.



The flirt game by Kapil has now gotten even more annoying, where you feel enraged after a point of time. It isn't funny! It never was! Kapil really needs to do something else to showcase his evidently known comic prowess otherwise.

The Verdict

With monotonous segments, unfunny jokes, dull games and zero tempo, Family Time With
Kapil Sharma really can only be saved by the several families at home, if they choose to watch it. The only small saviour for this otherwise mundane show is occasionally fun one-liners by Kapil himself. Kapil may get the initial set of viewers and ratings owing to his royalty, but he really needs to work upon the show's concept to actually sustain that.
