Maria, wife of Arshad Warsi always does her bit to motivate her husband's team members in Star Plus' Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla...


Arshad Warsi, we hear is a very down-to-earth person by nature who is always there to help his team in Star Plus and Reliance Big Productions' Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla. While Arshad comes across as a pleasing Captain to his team members, his wife Maria Goretti leaves no stone unturned when it comes to being the 'Perfect Host'!!

A source from the set informs us, "Arshad's team comprising of Rashmi Desai, Sunil Grover, Rehman Khan and Sahil most of the times rehearse in their Captain's Den (Arshad's house). And it so happens that Maria takes up the whole responsibility of serving them with sumptuous food. She gets them yummy sandwiches at times, and makes Arshad's team members feel at home. She recently prepared a lovely cake for all of them, and even organized for a grand meal at her place".

We contacted Rehman Khan and he confirmed the buzz..

Guess Arshad and Maria know how to keep their team members happy… Way to go!!

Sudesh Bhonsle will Sudesh Lahiri as participant in Star Plus' reality show, Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla..


Raveena Tandon who captains the team 'Raveena ke Punters' in Star Plus' reality show Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla (that launches tonight at 9 PM) has now pocketed a big fish into her team in talented singer, comedy artiste and mimicry specialist, Sudesh Bhonsle.

Yes, you heard it right!! Raveena ke Punters which comprises of actress Aashka Goradia, Sudesh Lahiri, Parul Yadav and Vibha will see a change in the 5th episode!!

As per our reliable source, "Sudesh Lahiri, the stand-up comedian is out of the show now, and he will be replaced by Sudesh Bhonsle".

We hear that Sudesh Lahiri is under an exclusive two year contract with Optimistyx, and he had not brought this to the notice of Star Plus when he signed the contract for Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla. The shoot for the same commenced and the unit had shot for nearly four episodes, when Optimistyx and Sony Entertainment Television got to know of it.

A little birdie tells us, "Optimistyx brought this to the notice of Star Plus and Reliance Big Productions, and this immediately prompted the change. In fact, Optimistyx is actually waiting for a clarification to come from Sudesh Lahiri on the breach of contract that he has committed. And Lahiri might also be penalised by Optimistyx for the same. On the other hand, Star and Reliance Big Productions have now roped in an even bigger name in Sudesh Bhonsle to replace Sudesh Lahiri. Bhonsle has in fact given his nod and has started rehearsing for the show. He is due to come in place of Lahiri from the 5th episode".

We tried getting Sudesh Lahiri's point of view on the issue, but the stand up artiste told us, "I do not want to comment on this at all. As of now, I am out of Mumbai for a show".

However, Sudesh Bhonsle confirmed his presence in the Star Plus reality show, "Yes, I am going to participate in Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla. In fact, I was approached for the show earlier, but I could not make my dates available as I was to have a trip to USA. When I was offered a second chance, Reliance Big Productions gave me a clear picture of the dates they wanted from me and that helped me revise my dates for the live shows I do. I have done many live comedy shows, but this is a different experience altogether and I am looking forward to it".

Our efforts to reach Saravanan, Business Head, Reliance Big Productions were futile.

We tried contacting Vipul Shah of Optimistyx to get a clear picture on Sudesh Lahiri's contract terms and even sent him a text message, but did not get any revert.

Guess at the end of the day, we can only say that Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla has gained with the presence of the hugely talented Bhonsle in it…

After Sudesh Bhonsle coming in for Lahiri, Raveena ke Punters sees yet another replacement..


TellyBuzz had reported about Sudesh Bhonsle making it as a participant in Star Plus and Reliance Big Productions' Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla as a replacement to stand-up comedian Sudesh Lahiri.

Raveena ke Punters has suffered a double blow now with talented actress Aashka Goradia getting replaced!! Making her way into Raveena's team is Sucheta Khanna, who is presently seen in SAB TV's Lapataganj.

A little birdie tells us, "Sucheta got finalized over the weekend, and she has started rehearsing from today".

As for Aashka getting replaced, there are some mixed reactions coming across from the sets of the show.

A little birdie tells us, "Aashka is no doubt a great actress and has a huge exposure when it comes to playing character roles. However, she was new to the genre of comedy and that showed in her performance. She also had a tough time devoting time for her rehearsals as she was busy with her daily soap on COLORS, Laagi Tujhse Lagan. The entire team had to suffer because of this, and the creative team later decided to give her minimal lines to work on. It so happened that for one particular episode shoot, Aashka was even made to sit out because of all the problems. Eventually, Aashka was upset with this development and had a huge argument with the creative team".

Yet another source though claims that, "It is completely false that Aashka did not perform well. She was very good at her work, and the creative team had no problem whatsoever. We really cannot understand what brought about this replacement".

Another story that we got to know from the set is that Aashka was in fact completely dedicated to the show. When she had taken up the show, the makers had clearly told her that she wanted to bring in an actress who had never attempted comedy before. And the enthusiastic Aashka had promised to give her best and was even doing so. She was giving enough time for rehearsals, but was asked to give more than 8 hours which she apparently could not. After rehearsing for long hours, she was ultimately asked to sit out of one of the episodes and this came as a big blow to Aashka. Having said this, any actor in place of Aashka would have felt bad in this given scenario.

When we contacted Aashka Goradia to ask her about the reason for replacement, she seemed clueless about the whole development. "This is news to me; I have not been informed about this till now. When I was taken into the show as participant, everything was done officially and I had signed on the dotted lines. And if I am getting replaced, I expect the makers to give it to me in writing. All I would want to say is that this is breach of trust. I can only talk about it if I get a confirmation from their side".

Sucheta Khanna who is making it into the team of Raveena Tandon as Aashka's replacement confirmed the news and said, "Yes, I have started rehearsing for Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla. I am looking forward to meeting Raveena; I have always loved her comic sense in movies like Andaz Apna Apna and am happy to be working with her".

We hear that Sucheta like Sudesh Bhonsle will be entering in the 5th episode of the show..

While it is a gain for Sucheta, we can only say that Aashka lost out on a golden opportunity to showcase her comic talent!!

Next week on Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla on Star Plus will see special performances by Bobby Darling and Anupam Shyam who is currently doing Pratigya.

A source reveals, “Bobby Darling has always shown interest in participating in Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla. But since the teams were already in place all that the channel could do was include him in one of the episodes. Bobby and Anupam were the celebrity participants this week and they performed with the other contestants.”

As for this week’s episode the theme is costume drama and power play.

Raveena Tandon performed as Duryodhan, Shakti Kapoor style. Sudesh Lahiri played Dhritarashtra, Parul Yadav was the eye doctor and Vibha Bhagat, Gandhari. Meanwhile, Supriya Pilgaonkar shocked everyone with her Veena Mallik act. Shreyas Talpade’s team was not far behind as he played Yamraj while Raju Srivastava played his multi-faceted mummy. Roshni Chopra bowled everyone with her performance as the wife of a drunkard, hassled man.”

This will truly be the Clash of the Titans where the stalwart of comedy, leading their own team, will clash against each other to make their team supreme. They will have under their wing, a star stand-up comedian, a well known TV artist, a fresh face in acting and Joining this power-packed team will be 1 new stand-up comedian each handpicked by the team captain.

These 4 teams will vie for the title of Comedy Ka Maha Muqqabla. Every episode will be a war between all four teams in innovative rounds of comedy. The other 3 team captains will be the judges for performing team. Added to this would be the scores given by the live audience through the scoring pads provided to them at the ground.

The winner of each episode would, thereby, be decided by calculating the judges’ scores and the audience points.

After the end of sixth week, based on cumulative scores 1 team will be eliminated. From 7th week the matches will start between the 3 teams which will fight to be the first finalist, with addition of fresh talent to each team who are established comedy stars. The team that wins the maximum number of matches will the first finalist team after the 9th week. In 10th week 2nd and 3rd team will fight for spot of second finalist. Eleventh and Twelfth week are showcase events to build up the 2 finalist teams which will have show-night feel and the winner will be decided on the basis public voting in the Grand Finale
