Events that shaped India this year the 2010
2010 has been a tumultuous year for India. Even as the country was rocked by massive scams forcing the Central Government to take action against its leaders and ministers, it managed to charm US President Barack Obama who came to India with his wife. While Naxals emerged as a major threat to internal security, one of the poorest state of the country, Bihar, showed that development has become a major election issue relegating caste and community affiliations to the background. India also saw one of the worst air crashes in the beginning of the year.

Dantewada massacre

Naxals have become the biggest security threat in the last couple of years. Well-armed and highly motivated, the rebels have been targeting security forces regularly in their bastion. On April 6, 75 CRPF jawans and one Chhattisgarh policeman were massacred in Dantewada. On May 17, over 40 CRPF jawans were ****ed after a powerful bomb ripped through a bus they were travelling in in Chhattisgarh

CWG scam
While New Delhi managed to put up a spectacular show during the Commonwealth Games, allegations of corruption marred the mega sporting event.

Obama visit

US President Barack Obama charmed India and endorsed New Delhi's bid for a permanent seat at the United Nation Security Council. He also stayed at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, one of the places attacked by Pakistani terrorists during November 2008.

Mangalore crash

A Mangalore bound Air India Express flight coming in from Dubai with 166 people on board crashed early on May 22 ****ing 158 people. The Air India Express IX-812, operated by a Boeing 737-800, had 160 passengers and six crew members on board overshot the touchdown point on the Mangalore airport runway by 2000 feet on Saturday at 6:30 AM while attempting to land.

Caste census
