Patna: The JD(U)-BJP alliance appears to be heading for an emphatic victory to retain power in the Assembly elections in Bihar with the combine ahead in over 150 seats according to initial trends.
It is a victory for Nitish Kumar's clean image who is all set for a second stint as Bihar Chief Minister.
JD(U) is thrilled with the initial trends which suggest that the coalition is set to sweep Bihar.





Speaking to CNN-IBN, JD(U) leader Devesh Chandra Thakur expressed his gratitude for the electorate of Bihar who voted in favour of the party.
"We were expecting this and we aren't surprised. I am thankful to the people of Bihar who have awarded Nitish Kumar," he said.
"Its a victory of NDA with Nitish as the captain."
Thakur expressed confidence that the alliance will sweep the polls all across Bihar. "We expect good results all over Bihar we haven't identified any pockets," he said.

New Delhi: Congress on Wednesday gave all credit to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the ruling JD(U)-BJP combine's success in Bihar Assembly elections and said law and order in the state improved under his regime.
Party spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan said Congress went alone in the elections and it preferred to build a proper organisation.
"All credit to him (Kumar) for his success. Law and order did improve under Nitish Kumar," Jayanthi said.





Asked about party's poor performance in the polls, she said there was always a desire among the Congress workers that the party should go it alone and find its own place.
She said the trend was started by party chief Sonia Gandhi and AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.
"We will pursue it in future as well as," she said. Acknowledging that there is difference between UP and Bihar, Natarajan expressed confidence that "next time, we will improve our tally".

Patna: With the early trends suggesting a landslide victory for JD(U)-BJP alliance in the Bihar Assembly elections 2010, the celebratory mood has already set in for the coalition partners.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain hailed the victory and credited Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for leading the coalition well.
"This is a BJP-JDU victory. Nitish Kumar is the team's captain so the trophy goes to him. It's a victory of development and reconstruction of Bihar," said Shahnawaz Hussain.

Sounding confident about BJP's performance in the state, Shahnawaz Hussain said, "BJP will show a good striking rate, we will win with good votes and seats."
Sending out a clear message to the opposition about the ongoing alliance, Shahnawaz said, "The coalition in Bihar in between BJP and JDU is not breaking."

Patna: Nitish Kumar led JD(U)-BJP alliance is all set to storm back to power in Bihar and has taken a massive lead over the RJD-LJP combine.
The first three results of Bihar Assembly election 2010 have gone in favour of the ruling alliance with BJP Minister Renu Devi winning from Bettiah, Chandramohan Rai of BJP winning from Chanpatia and JD(U) leader Prabhat Ranjan Singh securing the Bagha seat.
Out of the 236 leads available till 10.15 AM, the JD(U)-BJP alliance was leading in 170 seats while RJD-LJP combine was leading in just 45 seats.

The counting started at 8 AM on Wednesday amidst tight security arrangements for all 243 constituencies.
Among JD(U) ministers leading were Vijendra Yadav (Supaul), Narendra Narain Yadav JD(U) (Alamgarh), Ram Parvesh Rai (Barauli) and Hari Prasad Sah (Laukaha).
The BJP ministers leading were Ashwini Choubey (Bhagalpur) and Nand Kishore Yadav (Patna Saheb).
State Congress president Choudhury Meh**** Ali Kaiser was trailing behind the JD(U) candidate at Simri-Bakhtiarpur.
State RJD president Abdul Bari Siddique was trailing behind his nearest JD(U) rival at Alinagar. Former chief minister Rabri Devi was leading from Raghopur.
In the outgoing House, the ruling parties JD(U) and BJP have 88 and 55 seats respectively. RJD and LJP have 54 and 10 respectively. Congress has nine seats.
The half-way mark required for any coalition or party to form a government in the state is 122.
