| The global economic meltdown had its adverse effect on the television industry too. With cost of living rising by the day, members of Federation of Western India Cine Employees went on strike bringing a halt to the industry. A couple of days later, the producers' bodies agreed to give in to their demand. A MOU was signed but the producers pulled the plug and refused to go ahead with the shoot. Clearly unimpressed with this impasse, the GECs blacked out all fresh programming from 10 November. For the next fortnight, it was only repeat telecasts and it took nearly two weeks for things to fall back in place |
