Default Topic 38: How to Install and Uninstall Excel Add-ins to Your System?

Excel 2007 add-in is program that adds additional functionality or features to Excel. Installing add-ins gives you additional Excel features not available in the Ribbon by default.

Excel add-ins are use to store one or more custom worksheet functions. When the add-in is loaded, you can use the functions like any built-in worksheet function.

There are three different types of add-ins:
  • Built-in add-ins available when you install Excel 2007
  • Add-ins that you can download from Microsoft web site (http://www.office.microsoft.com)
  • Add-ins developed by third-party vendors (must be purchased)
When you first install Excel 2007, the built-in add-in programs included with Excel are not loaded and therefore are not yet ready to use. The following are the steps to load the built-in add-in programs.
