Nobel Peace Prize to Liu Xiaobo
Imprisoned Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo won the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize for 'his long and non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights'. The prize enraged the Chinese government, which had warned the Nobel committee not to honour him.

Release of Aung San Suu Kyi
One of the world's most popular political prisoners and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Aung San Suu Kyi, was released from house arrest on November 13, 2010 after 15 years by Myanmar junta. Suu Kyi was released just a week after her country witnessed its first election in two decades. Leaders from around the world welcomed the news of the Nobel Peace Prize winner's release, calling her a symbol of peace.

The Gulf of Mexico (also called the BP oil spill) was the largest accidental marine oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry. BP sealed the leak on July 15 with a tight-fitting containment cap, choking off the flow of oil for the first time since an April 20 rig explosion ****ed 11 workers and sent crude spewing into the Gulf, soiling coastlines in five US states and devastating tourism and fishery industries.
