Two young boys, Bantu (Sharman Joshi) and Chantu (Sahil) are mischievous college friends. They are popular among other students because of their presence of mind and ability to solve any problem. They are tired of giving ideas and then getting money, they want to get rich quickly. They plan to marry rich girls and their college mates Sheena (Riya Sen) and Rani (Shilpi Mudgal). The problem is they hate them. So, they take up the identity of females named as Rose Mary Marlowe and Reshma Chowdhury, and take admission in Sheena and Rani's hostel. When they were trying to develop feelings for Chantu and Bantu in them, fate was taking another turn. The ladies whose identity they had taken are ****ed just a few days ago. Karan Saxena lives with his step brother Vivek whom he looks after as his own brother. Divya and Karan love each other and are planning to marry. Vivek and Divya have their group of friends and amongst them two boys try to molest Divya when Karan appears and get a sound thrashing from him. After this they two decide to avenge Divya and Karan. Once when Karan was out for business, they arrange a picnic and calls Divya before time to the picnic spot. They again try to molest her but, she ****s herself.

After this step a serpent appears in front of her and informs her that he is Kapil his lover of previous life. He tells her that in their previous birth they were lovers and snakes with magical powers, but by the curse of an angry sage they got separated until the 21st century. She had died after this curse, and reborn as Divya. After her death in this birth, she joins Kapil to avenge his death. She swears to take revenge from her group of friends as she thinks that they all had planned to call her early to meet. What happens when Karan returns?

Durga (Rakhee Gulzar) loves her sons Karan (Salman Khan) and Arjun (Shah Rukh Khan). Over and above, she is extra protective towards them as their father had been ****ed by the wicked Durjan Singh (Amrish Puri). Durga keeps them away from their heritage preferring them to stay alive than enjoy the riches that their grandfather could provide. But Durjan Singh seeks the boys out and ****s them. The shocked mother goes to the temple of Goddess Kali in the village and prays that her sons get back to her. She never gives up her belief that they will return to her some day.

Twenty years later Ajay (Salman Khan) is a champion prizefighter and all the money he earns is spent on buying medicines for his alcoholic father. When his father dies, he takes up the job offered by Saxena (Ranjeet) and uses his muscle to collect dues from people who owe his employer.

Vijay (Shah Rukh Khan) works for his uncle in his stables after his parents pass away. He teaches Saxena's daughter, Sonia (Kajol), to ride a horse and they both fall in love. Saxena wants Sonia to get married to Suraj, Durjan Singh's son.

Vijay keeps dreaming of strange incidents happening in an even stranger land and wakes up yelling every time. Then comes a day when Ajay and Vijay meet and strangely address one another as Karan and Arjun. They build up over their many flashes of memory and dreams and trace their way to the village where Durga resides. She immediately recognises and accepts the young men as her own sons. She talks to them about the gruesome manner in which they had been ****ed and encourages them to fight for justice against the cruel Durjan Singh.
