The first three months of 2018 saw several big and mid budget films releasing in theatres and we have to say many of them looked interesting. While some went on to be huge hits at the box office, others did not. However, the first quarter has been fantastic with 6 hits, 4 hundred crore films and 1 blockbuster. All these films worked because of the interesting storylines and content that they put forth in front of the audience.
From Padmaavat to Padman, Raid, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Baaghi 2 several films have earned the big bucks at the domestic box office. But who is leading the way? And where do the rest stand? To give you a fair understanding, we decided to list down the 5 highest grossing films of the first quarter of 2018. Here’s our list!

# Padmaavat
Box office collection: Rs 302.04 crore

Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor’s period drama released on the big screen after several months of protests. The film opened fantastically well and took over the box office instantly, breaking records left, right and centre. The movie earned Rs 302.04 crore in its lifetime run at the domestic box office and is currently the highest grossing film of 2018. (ALSO READ – #BLBestof3! Box office collection: Rs 135.35 crore*

Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani’s actioner surprised one and all by going on a record breaking run at the domestic box office. The film not only became the biggest opener of 2018, but it has earned Rs 135.35 crore in just 10 days. However, Baaghi 2 is not done yet. The film is dominating the domestic box office even today and that will enable it to seal its second spot in the list of highest grossers of 2018.

# Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety
Box office collection: Rs 108.46 crore

Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh’s Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is the surprise entrant in this list. The film was always going to be an entertaining watch but no one expected it to earn a lot of money at the box office. However, after raking in Rs 108.46 crore in its lifetime run, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is the third highest grosser of 2018 till now.

# Raid
Box office collection: Rs 100.14 crore

Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz’s Raid was one of the most interesting films of the year and it went on to perform extraordinarily well at the box office. By raking in Rs 100.14 crore in its lifetime run, the film not only became the fourth hundred crore film of the first quarter, but also the fourth highest grosser till now.  # PadMan
Box office collection: Rs 81.80 crore

Akshay Kumar‘s PadMan looked and sounded interesting, but it failed to set the box office on fire. It did however have a decent run, raking in Rs 81.80 crore in its lifetime run and in the process became the fifth highest grosser of the first quarter.

So these were the 5 highest box office grossers in the first half of 2018. But with several big and interesting films coming up, we are sure this list might change, but can any film beat Padmaavat?
