Default BEST OF 2017 - TOP 10 WORST SHOWS/ WENT OFF-AIR SHOWS of the Year

#BestOf2017: Shows that SHOCKINGLY went off-air this year!

Despite high-voltage drama, these shows failed to make a connection with the viewers.

This year had a lot of shocking elements that left Tellyland with very little time to recover. From among these was news flashes of shows going off-air. And, we aren't talking about shows that run their course, but of series with massive fan-followings (or controversial baits) and still had their plugs pulled out of nowhere.

It's almost year-end and we're still recovering! Here's our list of top 6 shows that shockingly went off-air-

Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?

This one probably broke the most number of hearts! Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon brought the popular franchise back to TV with Barun Sobti. While the makers had a rough time with Shivani Tomar as the female lead, the audience eventually warmed up to the idea. But, just when they did; the show went off-air. Owing to low TRPs the Star Plus show was cancelled leaving audiences surprised.

Pehredaar Piya Ki

While there were a number of protests and petitions against this one, nobody expected the show to go off-air the way it did. After several attempts by producers Shashi and Sumeet Mittal, the makers had to finally give in and shut shop after barely a month of going on-air. There was no official announcement, the Tejasswi Prakash Wayangankar and Afan Khan starrer just didn't make it to the TV screens on Sony TV at its designated run-time. It made one hell of a headline!

Ghulaam

Ghulaam was a total favourite on Life Ok and it ran for the longest duration of four years. It became a fan favourite as Niti Taylor and Param Singh won hearts for their performances. The show was all geared up for a shift to Star Bharat when Life Ok switched banners, and it was pegged to be the only show that will be retrieved from the channel. However, in an unexpected turn of events, the decision to pull it off-air was made!
Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil

Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil had a special place as a fan favourite and Naina and Raghav made for the perfect pair while Arjun Bijlani and Dhrashti Dhami kept viewers hooked to the channel. However, the show failed at garnering TRPs and the chemistry between the lead actors was questioned. The makers also gave the show some time to pull up its ratings and when that didn't happen, the show got cancelled. It's needless to say that fans were distraught at the news!

Aarmabh

Aarambh was launched on a grand scale by Goldie Behl, the makers of Bahubali. The show had an intriguing plot and a production backed by an impressive star cast including Rajneesh Duggal and Karthika Nair. However, it did not work in terms of numbers and the spark created while Bahubali was trending simmered down rather easily in a matter of weeks after the show went on-air. Although it was pegged to be a finite series from the very beginning, what's shocking was the decision to cut down a few episodes and wrap up in quite a hurry.

Swabhimaan

This fan favourite came to a very abrupt end! The Colours show picked up where Swaragini left off and instantly received as much popularity as the show it replaced. It even went on to be one of the TRP toppers for a few weeks. But, the inevitable dip in numbers eventually came in and there was no recovering from it. The show went off-air in a jiffy with the short notice of barely two days.
