After all, many of our pretty ladies in tinsel town began their career on the ramp. Here's chronicling a few who sashayed effortlessly from the ramp to the big screen...

A former model, Anushka made her bollywood debut with 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi', opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Anushka originally only wanted to be a model and had no inclination to join the Bollywood bandwagon. She began her career walking for ace designer Wendell Rodricks and has walked for several designers since then.

Deepika Padukone
While still in college, Deepika began her modelling career, and appeared in several print ads. In 2006, she made it to the Kingfisher Calendar and in 2007, came her big Bollywood debut, 'Om Shanti Om'.

First seen on the Indian fashion scene in 2007, this half-Indian, half-Australian model effortlessly slid into the shoes of the fashionable and sophisticated career woman opposite Abhay Deol in 'Aisha'. Currently, this leggy lass is said to be taking lessons in Hindi diction to make it big in Bollywood.

Sarah-Jane Dias
At the age of 21, she won a TV talent hunt contest and in 2007, she was crowned Miss India. Before the release of her first film, she signed the dotted lines for 'Game', in the lead role opposite Abhishek Bachchan.

Nargis Fakhri
This half-Pakistani, half Czech model featured in the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar in the year 2009. Right now, Nargis is shooting for Imtiaz Ali's 'Rockstar' opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
