Balika Vadhu - Kachchi Umar Ke Pakke Rishte
A super success since its launch, 'Balika Vadhu benefited everybody associated with the show. While making a social commentary, the show dealt with child marriages and came as a whiff of fresh air to the audiences choked by the kitchen sagas of 'K' soaps. The lead protagonist Anandi (played by Avika Gor) became a household name threatening the success of the likes of Smriti Irani and elevated the channel's status to a great deal. The show has taken a leap, audience fidelity is still there. The average TRP of the show has been 4-5.

Na Aana Iss Des Laado
Another addition to the trend of daily soaps mouthing social issues, 'Laado' dealt with the burning issue of female infanticide, which is still prevalent in the country. The show had a strong Haryanvi flavour which allegedly made Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda send a letter to the government expressing his displeasure over the show. The show was introduced as 'Kya Hai Nakusha Ke Chehre Ka Sach?'and essentially it's about an ugly Betty. But no, it was nowhere close to 'Jassi Jaisi koi Nahi'. It deals with a poor girl whose face is the reason of her never ending troubles. Interestingly (for its loyal viewers) or funnily (for us), Nakusha's face is ugly because her mother makes it so to do away with unnecessary attention from the opposite ***. Pavitra Rishta
The show 'Pavitra Rishta' started with a story of strong emotional bonding of Archana (played by Ankita Lokhande) and her mother (played by Savita Prabhune) and the mother's search for a desirable suitor for her daughter. And then she gets married to Manav (Sushant Singh Rajput) and her married life brings difficult circumstances for the couple. Supposedly a remake of a popular Tamil television serial, 'Thirumathi Selvam', Ekta Kapoor's show is devoid of glamour and grandeur, and brings somewhat authenticity to the middle class household. A special mention for Usha Nadkarni and her histrionics. The average TRP of the show has been 4.5 -5.

Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya
A mirror to the patriarchal system of our society, the show is about titular protagonist Pratigya who wants to fight the prejudices against women. Based in Allahabad, 'Pratigya' shows the attitude of men, when love means acquiring a woman. The lead Pooja Gor and Arhaan Behl are the off-track Jodi of the year. The show owes lion's share of its popularity to Anupam Shyam who plays Sajjan Singh and who has taken all the major awards for his performance this year. The average TRP of the show has been 4.5 -5.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai
Like those Sooraj Barjatya films, this show too lives in the forever world of marriage and its celebrations. The show is about falling in love within the confinements of marriage. The show is set in Rajasthan and has an immense belief in the sacredness of marriage as an institution. The average TRP of the show has been 4-5.

Saath Nibhana Saathiya
The story of the show revolves around two cousin sisters and their mothers in law; it has taken saas bahu shows to a different level. The kitchen politics is so detailed in the show that characters (elaborately dressed) bother about whether the pressure cooker will explode or who has stolen stuff from the kitchen. This is one show that came as a total surprise as nobody expected it to be such a huge hit. Choti Bahu was an exception as it became a hit at 7.30 pm time slot, 'Saath Nibhana Saathiya' moved another notch higher since it's the number one show across channels that too at 7 pm time slot. The average TRP of the show has been 5.5- 6.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
A comedy that revolves around the agonies and ecstasies of common man like those middle-of-the-road films of Hindi cinema, 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' is the only one out-and-out comedy which has managed to make this cut. Based on the the column 'Duniya Na Undha Chasma' written by Taarak Mehta, the show is about Gokuldham Co-op Housing Society and its residents of which one is from Gujarat, a Punjabi married to a Parasi woman, a Maharashtrian family and one South Indian with a Bengali wife amongst others. Subtly advocating national integration, the show's simplicity has managed to grow on the audience slowly but steadily. Jethalal Gadha and his wife Daya Bhabhi played by Dilip Joshi and Disha Vakani are the heroes of this farce. The average TRP of the show has been 4.

Uttaran
After the smashing success of 'Balika Vadhu' with a child protagonist, 'Uttaran' was next addition to the line. Started as the story of Ichcha, a poor girl from the slums who hopes for a better life and befriends a rich girl Tapasya, the show expectantly grabbed eyeballs, led to debate of using child actors for the gruelling schedules of the small screen industry. The show was a hit but became a bigger one when it took a generation leap of with both the girls becoming adults. The average TRP of the show has been 4.5 – 5.5.
