Default JUNE 2017: Top 100 TV Programs/TRP/TAM/TV Ratings

As the title suggests, history has indeed been made as all the 10 shows in the list have managed to fetch 2.0 and plus. Usually, the show at the 10th spot hovers around a rating of less than 2.0 points. But this time, the competition has been intense and all the 10 shows have been rating grabbers. Also, there are some notable changes too.

Making a re-entry after a long time is Colors' show, Shani. Once a consistent rating poacher, the show has been on a downfall from the past few weeks and was knocked out of the list. However, this is a sort of comeback for the show as it manages to fetch 2.0 points.

Talking about comebacks, Star Plus long runner Saath Nibhana Saathiya makes a roaring comeback to the list after being off it for a long time going on to fetch 2.0 points. The show has been confirmed to go off-air next month and we wonder if this rating boost is going to change things.

Happy times seem to have reborn for The Kapil Sharma Show as the show has now managed to be fairly consistent in the rating charts and this time, it has infact risen to the 8th spot fetching 2.0 points. The addition of comedienne Bharti Singh is a huge boost for Kapil as Krushna's show will be coming on-air soon.

A consistency of position for Shakti... Astitiva Ke Ehsaas Kii as the show holds on to the 7th spot even though it had a rise in ratings going on to grab 2.1 points.

Even though this week has been one of the most competitive ones, this disconnect between the 7th spot and 6th spot is rather surprising. While Shakti gets 2.1 points, Naagin 2 has gone on to fetch 2.5 points getting the 6th position and this huge difference is really shocking. However, on the other hand, the fall for Naagin 2 continues.

It's not that Kumkum Bhagya performed dismally this week. Infact, it witnesses a considerable rise in the ratings going on to fetch 2.5 points from 2.3 points last week. However, courtesy, the competition being tough, the show witnesses a fall and drops to the 5th place.

It's a similar story for Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, as the show rose from 2.3 points last week to 2.6 points this week, but became the victim of other shows over-performing and hence dropped to the 4th place.

The dream run for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2017 ends as the show drops to the third spot as opposed to being a rating topper for the past two weeks. However, they need not feel too disheartened as this doesn't mean a disappointing drop in ratings. The show has been consistent and fetched 2.7 points.

Surprise Surprise! Getting several eyeballs popping, Sab TV's flagship show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has managed to dodge every show booming to the 2nd position with a staggering 2.7 points. This is HUGE for the show and the channel which has recently re-branded itself.

And a rather obvious topper this week as we predicted is none other than the much-awaited and much-talked about India v/s Pakistan cricket match which was the ICC Champions Trophy Final 2017. The match had everyone glued to their TV sets and even though it didn't end well for the Indians, the match was an entertaining one going on to fetch 3.9 points for Doordarshan.

This week can be considered as an exception when it comes to the usual game of ratings as the cricket match final was always supposed to fetch numbers. Even if that is not taken into account, the feat that Taarak Mehta... has managed to achieve is big and even had Sab TV beat juggernauts like Sony TV and Zee TV grabbing the 3rd place.

The Week 9 of TAM readings brings some stunning results, and it is Zee TV and SAB which have gained in numbers..

The Week 9 of TAM 2011 has a mixed bag of good as well as bad news for the Top GEC's.

Speaking of the channels that gain this week, it is Zee TV and SAB TV that have all the reasons to smile!!

Zee TV has finally managed to out beat COLORS and acquires the #2 position. The channel which has been slowly and steadily growing its content seems to have gained pace now. While all the leading GEC's, except for SAB TV have lost in GRP in the last one week, Zee TV has gained a GRP of 23. COLORS which stood tall as the #2 channel as per the Week 8 TAM figures, has dropped 58 GRPs, thus taking the #3 position with 225 GRP this week.
Star Plus heads the list with a GRP of 297.

What's more, Zee TV is going neck to neck with Star Plus when it comes to the GRPs in the prime time band, i.e. between 19.00 – 23.30 hours. Zee TV stands at a close second position with 154 GRPs, while Star Plus is just ahead with 156 GRPs. COLORS is a distant third with 145 GRPs.

And Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta continues to be the #1 show across all GEC's with an average of 5.5 TVR in Week 9 ratings.

While COLORS seems to be relying heavily on Bollywood movies to push their GRPs further, Zee TV has made it clear that their focus at the moment is only in bettering its content.

Coming to SAB TV India's 1st comedy entertainment channel, they have toppled Sony Entertainment Television for the very first time. As per the latest TAM data, SAB TV has acquired a GRP of 153, thus pushing Sony down which stands at 136 GRP. This turnaround is really stark given the huge difference in investments in both. SAB TV has gained 20 GRPs while Sony has lost by 7 as per the Week 9 figures.

Considering the fact that Sony faces the stick even after investing huge money on big names Amitabh Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit in particular when compared to the one third of the budget that SAB TV works with, is shocking in itself.

Guess with the ICC World Cup 2011 all set to enter into the big-matches phase, the competition between the GEC's to better its content will only get bigger!!

As for now, Channels Zee TV and SAB TV can take a bow!!

World Cup 2011 TRP

World Cup records strong debut ratings'' The World Cup has made a cautionary statement to Hindi general entertainment channels as it has opened to strong debut ratings. The inaugural World Cup match between India and Bangladesh has delivered a peak rating of 12.48 TVR across six metros, 11 per cent higher than the Indian Premier League (IPL) opener. The match rated an average TVR of 7.8, according to Tam data (c&s 4+). The match reached out to 27.4 million consumers across six metros.

A media buyer expressed satisfaction at the initial performance. "The fact that an India game would do better than the IPL was bound to happen. The question is what viewership will non India matches have. I expect a big dip initially for non India games, especially those featuring weak teams. But the World Cup has gotten off to a solid start," he said.
Star Cricket got an average TVR of 3.03 which is more than double what Doordarshan managed at 1.5.
ESPN got a TVR of 2.47 while Star Sports, which is offering a Hindi feed, got a TVR of 0.89.

Bangalore top scored in the ratings game, getting an average TVR of 9.17 for the first match. Mumbai followed with 9.14 TVR, while Kolkata fetched a TVR of 7.7, Delhi a TVR of 7.65, Hyderabad a TVR of 6.43 and Chennai a TVR of 4.94.

ESS said Tuesday its site, www.espnstar.com, delivered over 8.5 million page views on the first match day. The live streaming of on the website delivered over three million video requests so far. The web streaming attracted one million plus unique video viewers.
ESPN Software India executive VP advertising sales and new media Sanjay Kailash said, “We are indeed delighted with the ratings. There have been lots of discussions and comparisons with rival properties over the past few months but the opening match of the tournament has clearly proved the fact that ICC is indeed the ‘The Cup That Counts’."

ESS expects the ratings to go up further as the team marches on in its quest for victory. The real test for ESS, however, will come in the matches that do not engage the. "It will be wrong to compare the IPL opener with the World Cup opener as India was involved in the contest. We will have to wait for a longer period of ratings if we are to compare the world's two hottest properties," a media analyst said.
