Karnataka, home to Bangalore -- India's Silicon Valley -- surprisingly seems to have fallen out of favour for entrepreneurs looking to set up new ventures in India. For a long time it was India's fastest growing state, with a booming information technology sector, great educational institutions, business-friendly policies, etc. But bad infrastructure, congested roads, inadequate power supply, unfriendly governance, et cetera have been listed as some of the reasons for Karnataka to be voted as one of the least preferred destination for entrepreneurs. It is still the leading Indian state when it comes to IT. It also has a very healthy manufacturing sector. Many of India's major banks too originated in Karnataka. Goa's primary industry and revenue-earner is toursim: Almost 15 per cent of all foreign tourists visit Goa. Goa is also rich in mineral ore, and has many small and medium enterprises. Image: A Goan beach. | Photograph, courtesy: Goa Tourism |
