Thumbs down Dhai Akshar Prem Ke

Dhaai Akshar Prem Ki (English: Two and half alphabets of Love) is a 2000 Bollywood romantic drama film. It was the first of seven films in which currently married couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai starred together. The film is a remake of the 1995 Hollywood film A Walk in the Clouds.

Plot

Sahiba is an intelligent, shy, and sensitive girl attending a college a long way from home. She belongs to a typical Rajput family in which tradition requires that a girl give her consent readily to marry the man chosen by her family. But being a girl of contemporary times that she is, Sahiba refuses to submit to age-old traditions. To avoid an arranged marriage, she tells a lie that she is already married. This angers her father Yogi Grewal (Amrish Puri).

The fake husband is a handsome army captain. The two meet at a train station after Karan saves Sahiba from a group of men who are trying to **** her; Sahiba explains that she had witnessed a ******, and the ******er had sent his men after her. Karan, learning Sahiba's plight, decides to escort her home and help her explain matters to her family. Once home, the family mistakes Karan for Sahiba's presumed husband, and the situation does not improve when Karan and Sahiba try and fail to tell the truth.
Sahiba's family consists of a smiling grandmother (Sushma Seth), a jovial uncle (Anupam Kher) who is more a friend than an uncle, and an understanding aunt (Tanvi Azmi), all of whom take a great liking to Karan. Sahiba's father, however, does not.

At first, Karan is anxious to get out of the situation and go meet his friend Nisha (Sonali Bendre) who he had fallen in love with but had not seen for a year. However, being an orphan, Karan soon gets carried away by the love and affection Sahiba's family showers him with.

Meanwhile, Sahiba has fallen in love with Karan. Following a misunderstanding in which the family celebrated Sahiba's and Karan's pregnancy (which did not occur), Karan decides that he should walk out. Before he can, though, a distressed Sahiba tells Karan that she loves him and begs him not to leave. He leaves anyway.
Upon meeting Nisha, he discovers that she has already married and she had never taken him for more than a friend. Meanwhile, Yogi, who had finally taken a liking to Karan after learning of the "pregnancy," is angry that Karan left and even more angry when Sahiba tells him that she and Karan were never married.
Karan is overcome with grief and guilt for having left Sahiba for Nisha when Nisha did not love him. In the shock of discovering Nisha's marriage, he also discovers that he had fallen in love with Sahiba but had been too focused on Nisha to realize it. He decides to go back to Sahiba's house and apologize. Upon entering, Yogi berates him and after revealing that he has arranged Sahiba's engagement to another young man, he tells Karan to leave and never come back.

Meanwhile, Sahiba is distressed to find out that the man she is engaged to, had ******ed a girl at Sahiba's college hostel - the very ******er whose men Karan had rescued her from. She explains this to her father, but he does not believe her; the young man in question, Vicky, happens to be the son of a family friend, Rai Singhal (Dalip Tahil).

Rai Singhal reveals his true colors when Yogi overhears him telling his son that they would use Sahiba to inherit her father's money, then they would get rid of her. Karan, who had been reunited with Sahiba by her uncle Raunaq and had been told who Vicky was, arrives at the scene and a brutal fight begins. It ends with Yogi and Karan captured and trapped in Singhal's warehouse, which Singhal and his henchmen have set on fire in order to ensure that Vicky and Sahiba's wedding will not be disrupted. Karan and Yogi struggle to escape the fire; in the process, Yogi reveals that he loves his daughter to death and does not know what he would do if something happens to her.

In the meantime, the wedding takes place. Sahiba is so overcome with grief and stress that she swallows poison. Before the wedding is complete, Yogi and Karan arrive and beat down Singhal, Vicky, and their henchmen. Before everyone can celebrate, though, Sahiba faints. They rush her to the hospital; Karan refuses to leave her bedside while she's unconscious. Soon she wakes up, and the doctors declare that she will live. Yogi declares that Karan and Sahiba are meant for each other.
The last scene shows the family ushering a visibly pregnant Sahiba out of the house and into a car. Karan quiets everyone down, shouts that it's going to be a girl, and lifts Sahiba up and carries her away.

Arrow Mohabbatein

Mohabbatein (Hindi: मोहब्बतें, Urdu: محبتیں , translation:"Love Stories"), is a 2000 Indian Bollywood film directed by Aditya Chopra. The movie stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan in pivotal roles, along with six young debutantes. Aishwarya Rai appeared in flashbacks as Khan's lover. The movie was filmed at Oxford and Longleat. This is Aditya Chopra's second directorial venture after Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995). The film went on to do well both critically and commercially. It became the second highest grossing film of the year[1] and won two Filmfare Awards, given to both Bachchan and Khan for their respective roles

Plot

Three young men arrive at a train station one night and strike an instant friendship. They are all going to join a prestigious Indian private school, Gurukul.

Gurukul is run by a stern headmaster named Narayan Shankar (Amitabh Bachchan). He is a strict disciplinarian who believes his institute runs because of his principles and rules. Apparently the students are picked from universities all over the country to study at Gurukul and the headmaster has high expectations of them. Moreover, Narayan Shankar has instituted a strict anti-romance policy – any student who becomes romantically involved will be expelled.

The three friends all have their hearts set on different girls. Sameer (Jugal Hansraj) works in a cafe and is in love with his childhood friend Sanjana (Kim Sharma). Unfortunately for Sameer, she already has a boyfriend. Vikram (Uday Chopra) catches Ishika (Shamita Shetty) stealing apples from the Gurukul gardens, and falls in love at first sight. Karan (Jimmy Shergill) becomes attracted to Kiran (Preeti Jhangiani) when he sees her waiting for a train. Kiran is married to an Army officer who never returned from war, and she behaves as if her husband were still alive because of her father-in-law, General Khanna (Amrish Puri), who holds out hope that his son is alive. However, Sameer, Vikram, and Karan all elect not to take their respective romances to the next level, for fear of Narayan Shankar and his stern ways.

The pupils soon meet Raj Aryan Malhotra (Shahrukh Khan). With flowers and a violin in his hand, Raj wants to join Gurukul as a music teacher. After some reluctance, Narayan Shankar allows Raj to join the institute. Raj spreads the message of love amongst the three young men and encourages them to follow their hearts. He tells them that he loved a woman named Megha (Aishwariya Rai), who is now no longer alive. Nevertheless, Raj continues to love her. The audience gets a glimpse of Megha, who now lives only in Raj's imagination and speaks to him when he is alone.
As the boys fall in love, the relationship between the headmaster and the music teacher begins to become strained. Much to the chagrin of the headmaster, Raj begins to implement many changes. He begins hosting parties (inviting girls from the nearby girls' hostel), celebrating festivals, and encouraging students to break Gurukul's strict rules.

It is revealed that Raj was once also a student of Gurukul, and the girl he fell in love with, Megha, was none other than Narayan Shankar's daughter. When Narayan discovered their romance, he forbade them from seeing each other, expelled Raj from the institution without ever meeting him, and distanced himself from his daughter. Megha became distraught, as she could not forget Raj, and ultimately committed suicide by throwing herself out of her bedroom window. Raj expected this tragic incident to finally transform Narayan, but he instead became more stern and strict. So, Raj made it his mission to spread love throughout Gurukul, and to one day reach out to Narayan Shankar and show him the magic of love and affection.

When Narayan Shankar comes to know that Raj is the same boy, R.A. Malhotra, who was in love with his daughter, he takes all the necessary steps to remove him from the institution. Raj continues to help the three boys and their lovers meet against school rules and the story turns into a war between Raj and Narayan Shankar.

Eventually, Narayan Shankar come to realize that love and change are indeed important parts of life and softens. He steps down and appoints Raj as the headmaster and, in this way, Gurukul is transformed forever into a singing, dancing, and loving school.

Default Albela

Albela (English: Besotted) is a Hindi film released on 20 April 2001. It was directed by Deepak Sareen and stars Govinda and Aishwarya Rai as the lead protagonists.

Tony (Govinda) works as a tourist guide. When he meets Sonia (Rai) and takes her for a tour of his home town he realises that she is his dream girl, as described to him by a fortune teller. He mistakes her friendliness for love and is smitten, unknowingly breaking the heart of his good friend Neena who is in love with him. However, Sonia is already in love with another, whom she has been forbidden to marry, and does not realise Tony's love for her.

Plot

Tony (Govinda) is an easy-going and popular tour guide. One day a fortune teller tells him that a blue-eyed princess from overseas will enter his life and change it forever. She is the dream girl that he has been searching for.

On the way from Austria to an intended holiday in Singapore, Sonia (Aishwarya Rai) and her nanny stop off in Mumbai. When their connecting flight is delayed Sonia decides instead to travel to Malaga (which is implied to be near Goa), the birthplace of her mother, who died when Sonia was very young. Sonia has been brought up by her father (the Austrian Ambassador) since her mother mysteriously abandoned the family to return to Malaga. Although Sonia knows her father will be very angry with her - he hates India and Indians due to his wife leaving him - Sonia wants to see her mother’s grave for the first time. She convinces her father to let her stay in Malaga for a few days in order to fulfil her wish.

Upon arrival in Malaga, Sonia meets Tony and hires him to show her the area and to help her find her mother’s grave. As Sonia and Tony see the sights of Goa and find her mother’s grave, Tony begins to fall in love with Sonia and it appears Sonia is very fond of him. Unbeknownst to Tony, his childhood friend Neena (Namrata Shirodkar) is in love with him and she does not take kindly to him spending all his time with Sonia.

One day when Sonia is travelling with Tony she sees a man in the distance. Flashbacks show that the man is Prem Arya (Jackie Shroff), an Indian journalist who Sonia met in Austria when he was interviewing her father. Prem and Sonia became friends, fell in love and hoped to marry. When Sonia’s father found out, he forbid them to marry because Prem is Indian, and although they are deeply in love, they agree to separate.
Returning to the present, Sonia is shocked to find Prem is in Malaga. When she sees that Prem has written an article about Tony and that they are good friends she asks Tony to organise a lunch on the pretence of meeting the author of the article. Prem agrees to the meeting and is startled to see Sonia. When Tony goes to order lunch, Sonia reveals to Prem that she is still in love with him and is sorry about having to leave him in order to keep her father happy. Prem tells her that there is no point in having these feelings as there is nothing either of them can do about it and, overcome by emotion, he leaves. When Tony returns from ordering lunch, Sonia says she wants to leave too, resulting in a very confused Tony.

The next day Sonia calls Prem and admits he still loves her and has not been able to stop thinking about her. They begin to spend time together and after returning from one outing with Prem, Sonia admits to her nanny that she is in madly in love with Prem and that he is a wonderful and kind person. Tony overhears this and believes Sonia is referring to her feelings for him. On another occasion Tony and Neena join Prem and Sonia on their outing. It is obvious to both Prem and Sonia that Neena loves Tony and so Sonia attempts to tell Tony that Neena loves him. Tony mistakes her comments and, in combination with what he has already overhead, believes that Sonia is trying to tell him that she loves him.

As Sonia and Prem spend time together, Sonia realises that her true happiness lies in being with Prem. Unfortunately Sonia’s father travels to Malaga to surprise her and discovers that Sonia has been seeing Prem again. He believes that she intentionally travelled to Malaga to see Prem and does not believe that it was a coincidence. He forbids Prem to see Sonia and orders Sonia to pack, intending to take her back to Austria straight away.

Sonia advises Tony that she will be returning to Austria and he is devastated. Sonia invites Tony to join her in Austria and Tony willingly accepts. Neena is extremely upset but Tony thinks this is because he is leaving her alone in Malaga - he assures her that he will find a job for her once he is settled in Austria and continues happily packing in preparation for his journey.

Sonia makes one last trip to the cemetery and is met by a priest who tells her the true reason of her mother’s return to Malaga. When she gets to the airport she is met by Tony who tells her that he cannot go with her to Austria anymore, he has discovered a message left for him by Neena, revealing her feelings and wishing him happiness in his new life. He tells Sonia that he knows she loves him and although he loves her in return, he realises that Neena relies on him and will not cope if he leaves. Achieving his dream of being with Sonia will be at the expense of Neena and he is not prepared to do this.

Sonia tries to tell Tony that she does not love him but he leaves quickly, not wanting a sad farewell. Sonia’s father makes derogatory comments Indians and about Tony not joining them, but Sonia defends Tony and tells her father of his sacrifice. After seeing this sacrifice, Sonia realises that she cannot give up Prem just to keep her father happy and begs him to let them marry. Her father still refuses and makes further derogatory comments about Indians and her mother and this is when Sonia reveals the truth – that her mother was diagnosed with a contagious disease and so made the sacrifice to leave the two of them and die alone in India, so that they would not get sick. She gives her father letters written by her mother (but never sent) and he apologises to Sonia and tells her to go to Prem.

Tony and Neena are happily sitting in a restaurant when Tony notices Sonia at another table with Prem. Tony believes Sonia has not left Malaga because she wants to be near to him (Tony). Tony comments that although she looks quite pale and sad, Sonia will eventually get over her feelings for him. At Sonia and Prem’s table, Sonia suggests to Prem that they should thank Tony because it was he who brought them together, and she also wants to clarify with Tony that she never had feelings for him. Prem stops her and advises that some dreams are so beautiful that they should not be destroyed - that it is better for Tony to believe that he gave up a princess for an ordinary girl.

Arrow Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahi

Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahi (Hindi: हम किसीसे कम नहीं, English: We Are Not Less Than Anyone) is a Bollywood comedy film directed by David Dhawan and produced by Afzal Khan. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles. Ashish Vidyarthi, Satish Kaushik and Vivek Vaswani have supporting roles in the film. The film was also written by Javed Siddiqui.

Plot summary

The film starts with Munna Bhai (Sanjay Dutt), a dreaded Mumbai-streeted goon, waiting for his enemy Pillai (Ashish Vidyarthi) to arrive, so Munna, and his man Pappu Pager (Satish Kaushik) can attack him. Munna had found Pillai while he was young, and he taught him how to ******, ****, attack and self-defence, now Pillai is using his own teached-s****s on Munna, and that is why Munna wants to **** him. Pillai's uncle, a kind-hearted man tells Munna to make his hatred into friendship, and while he is explaining that, Pillai jumps out ready to shoot Munna as his uncle jumps front and takes the bullet.

He dies at that point, as Munna beats Pillai up. He chases him into Komal's (Aishwarya Rai) dancing class, and then stops Munna from beating him up and explains to him the same that his uncle did. Munna straight-away falls in love with her without realizing that he is in love. Noticing that Munna Bhai seems to be ill, his sidekick takes him to Dr. Malhotra (Amitabh Bachchan), whose diagnosis is that Munna Bhai is suffering from the "love virus" which can only be cured with love. He advises Munna Bhai to try to woo the girl with whom he is smitten. What Dr. Malhotra and Munna Bhai do not realize is that this girl is none other than the doctor's younger sister. When Dr. Malhotra finds out, he straightly takes Komal to his friend's house to get her married to his young son, unaware that Komal is in love with Raja (Ajay Devgan). When Raja pranks Dr. Malhotra into thinking that Raja does not love his sister, he persuades him to take him along to get her married, as Raja will not let that happen. Munna Bhai then follows Dr.

Malhotra and lands right onto his feet saying that he will die if he doesn't get Komal. That is when Munna Bhai gets a gun-victim and is saved by Raja, and Raja wishes that for saving his life, Munna Bhai should convince his girlfriend's brother to get them married, and Munna Bhai accepts, unaware of knowing it's Komal. When he finds out, they both create a torn between each other and start a fight saying that who ever gets her first, gets the girl, and when Raja is first, Munna Bhai shows up and shoots him, and once again Komal takes the bullet. Komal nearly dies, as she sees Munna Bhai saying he gives up the Crime World, and surrenders. Komal gets back healthy, and marries Raja with Dr. Malhotra's concept.

Hum Kisise Kum Nahi released to a good response of 60-70% and this quickly rose to 90%, with a final verdict of hit. It's movie ratings were 3/5, and music ratings were 2/5.

Thumbs up Devdas

Devdas (Hindi: देवदास) is a 2002 Hindi film based on the Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay novella Devdas. This is the third Bollywood (Hindi) version and the first colour film version of the story in Hindi. The film is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and stars Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Aishwarya Rai in the leading roles.

At the time of its release, Devdas was the most expensive Bollywood film ever produced, with a reported budget of Rs 50 crores.[1] The film was released in six alternative language versions: English, French, German, Mandarin, Thai, and Punjabi.

Shahrukh Khan's performance as the rebellious alcoholic Devdas is often considered one of his best performances, and won him a Filmfare Award. The song Dola Re Dola became a hit with its unique dance duet between Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit.

The film won five National Awards, ten Filmfare Awards including Best Film, and received a BAFTA nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. It was also India's entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars. It was ranked #74 in Empire magazines "The 100 Best Films Of World Cinema" in 2010

''

Synopsis

Sir Narayan Mukherjee (Vijay Crishna), a zamindar, and his wife Kaushalya (Smita Jaykar) have heard that their younger son, Devdas (Shahrukh Khan), is coming home from a law school in England to their mansion in Tal Sonapur, Bengal. On the day of his return, Kaushalya insists everyone in the family close their eyes so that she will be the first person to see him. Her plan backfires, however, when instead of coming straight home, Devdas goes to see Parvati "Paro" Chakraborty (Aishwarya Rai), his childhood sweetheart, first. This incident ignites Kaushalya's dislike of Paro.
Paro is Devdas's neighbour and childhood friend. The years apart turned their friendship into love. When he was sent to England at the age of ten, she lit a lamp for him, which she carefully tended to over the years and never allowed to extinguish.

It seems to everyone, including Paro's mother Sumitra (Kirron Kher), that Devdas and Paro will get married, but Devdas's vindictive sister-in-law Kumud (Ananya Khare) reminds Kaushalya of Paro's maternal lineage, which consists of mujra dancers. This is considered inappropriate for an alliance with the Mukherjee family. When Sumitra announces her desire for Devdas and Paro to marry, Kaushalya rejects and humiliates her in public. In retaliation, Sumitra vows to ensure that Paro will get an even better marriage, and soon arranges for Paro to marry Thakur Bhuvan Chaudhry (Vijayendra Ghatge), a forty-year-old widowed aristocrat with three grown children.

Devdas gets into a fight with his father about his relationship with Paro, and flees to a brothel with his college friend Chunnibabu (Jackie Shroff). He leaves a letter for Paro, stating that love had never existed between them. At the brothel, Devdas meets a good-hearted tawaif (courtesan) named Chandramukhi (Madhuri Dixit), who falls in love with him. Soon, Devdas realizes his mistake in abandoning Paro.

Devdas returns to Paro at the time of her wedding to Bhuvan Chaudhry and asks her to elope with him. Paro refuses, reminding him of the way he had discarded her so easily. Grieved, Dev leads Paro to her bridal procession and Paro, still holding the lamp, breaks into sobs as she is carried away.
Devdas, having lost both Paro and his family, is heartbroken. He moves to Chandramukhi's brothel permanently and becomes an alcoholic. Eventually, he becomes so ill that the slightest dose of alcohol could **** him.

Eventually, news of his alcoholism reaches Paro, who arrives at Chandramukhi's brothel and angrily accuses her of manipulating him into drinking. She soon realizes, however, that Chandramukhi deeply cares for Devdas. Chandramukhi urges Paro to convince Devdas to stop drinking; Paro attempts to persuade him, but Devdas remains stubborn. He promises Paro that before he dies, he will come to her doorstep one last time.

Paro invites Chandramukhi, whom she has befriended, to a celebration of Durga Puja at her husband's home and introduces Chandramukhi to her in-laws without revealing her profession. However, Bhuvan's ill-natured son-in-law who turns out to be Kalibabu (Milind Gunaji), a frequent visitor to Chandramukhi's brothel who made inappropriate advances towards Paro, reveals her background and humiliates her in front of Bhuvan and the guests. He also tells Bhuvan of Paro's relationship with Devdas. As a result, Bhuvan punishes Paro by permanently forbidding her from leaving the mansion.

Devdas tells Chandramukhi that he loves her but that she must let him go. He decides to travel the country, and takes Dharamdas (Tiku Talsania), a trusted servant, with him. While on a train, he meets his old friend Chunnibabu (Jackie Shroff), who offers him a glass of wine, and drinks it knowing it will be fatal.

On the verge of death, Devdas remembers his promise to see Paro one last time. He travels to her house, collapsing in front of the main gate. Paro learns of his presence, and, screaming his name, runs out of the house and attempts to reach him. Bhuvan sees this and orders the servants to close the gates, leaving Paro sobbing in front of them. Devdas sees a blurred image of Paro running to him, but the gates close before she can reach him and Devdas dies. At the same time, the lamp that Paro had lit for him flickers out.

Devdas was a huge hit at the box office. It grossed 69 crores and became the highest grossing film of 2002
