India's Got Talent is the Indian franchise of the Got Talent series, and is a cooperative effort between India's TV channel Colors and Britain's FremantleMedia.The first episode of India's Got Talent premiered on June 27, 2009.^[2] India's Got Talent follows the global Got Talent format, in which contestants audition in front of three judges and a studio audience. Up until the semifinal and final rounds, the judges decide whether or not a contestant advances in the competition. During the semifinal and final rounds, viewers vote on which contestants will advance. It is the first Got Talent format show in Asia, and India's first large-scale televised entertainment variety show, intending to showcase India's best unknown acts and talents. The show travels to different cities across India in search of interesting local talent. The show has no age limit for contestants. Singing, music, dance, impersonation, puppetry, and illusion are all common areas of talent; however, any talent is allowed to compete. The winner receives a cash prize of 5 million rupees (equivalent to approximately US$105,000) and a Maruti Suzuki Ritz. India's Got Talent is now credited to be Asia's biggest talent show.

Season 1

Judges
Indian actress Sonali Bendre, Bollywood director Shekhar Kapoor, and actress Kiron Kher were the premiere season judges.^[5][6] Director/Anchor Sajid Khan will be replacing Shekhar Kapoor in the 2010 show.

Hosts
Roshni Chopra, Nikhil Chinapa, and Ayushmann Khurrana hosted the first season of the show.^[7][8] Roshni Chopra also hosted India's Got More Talent.

Ayushmann Khurana is also the host of STAR Plus's Music Ka Maha Muqqabla.

Finalists
Eleven finalists were selected through voting by the judges and the viewers. Those finalists competed in the Grand Finale to win the grand prize. The eleven finalists were:

1. Aslam Khan & Group - traditional folk music
2. Lokmanya Tilak Group - Mallakhamb performers (1st runners up)
3. Msonic - music band from Assam
4. Mandeep Singh and Group - Bhangra Punjabi folk dance
5. Piyush Rajani and the Fine Tuners - band playing music through unusual instruments (2nd runners up)
6. Prince Dance Group - dance on unusual concepts (Winning act)
7. Rajesh Amrale - pole Mallakhamb and balancing act
8. Rohan & Group - street and hip-hop dancers
9. Satyajit Padhye - ventriloquist and puppeteer
10. Sneha Kapoor & Richard Tholoor - salsa dancer
11. Vaishnavi Patil - Bharatanatyam classical dance style

The winning act of the first season of India's Got Talent was the Prince Dance Group from Berhampur, Orissa. The group of 56 performed a dance inspired by the Lord Vishnu's Dasavatars.

The Prince Dance Group from Berhampur, Orissa was declared winner of the reality TV show, India's Got Talent, last weekend. The group -- mostly consisting of daily wage labourers working on construction sites -- was awarded Rs 50 lakh in cash and a Maruti Suzuki Ritz car.

Along with judges Shekhar Kapur, Sonali Bendre and Kirron Kher, the show also saw guest stars Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukerji, who were promoting their forthcoming film Dil Bole Hadippa.
