102 Not Out Movie Review: Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor are on a pursuit of happiness and it is a joyride of emotions

102 Not Out makes use of just three characters and their myriad expressions and yet it works

From the trailer, it was evident that 102 Not Out will be a funny tale of a young-at-heart father and his old son. With Umesh Shukla at the helm of affairs and two veteran actors – Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor, carrying the film on their shoulders, you know that you won’t be disappointed as far as the performances and execution is concerned. But what more does the film have to offer besides what we have seen in the trailer? Let’s take a look…

What To Do
Even if your folks care about superheroes saving the galaxy from a power-hungry, mass-culling enthusiast, drag them to watch this delightful film over the weekend. Make a family outing out of it, we say!

Raazi movie review: Alia Bhatt sets a new benchmark in acting with her career-best performance in a film that redefines patriotism

It is one of those rare films that not only make an impact but also stay with you for a long, long time

There are patriotic films, and then there are patriotic films. Jingoism is often packaged as patriotism and served up on a preachy platter in Bollywood. The audience also accepts it with equal enthusiasm, whistles and applause. And when the box office is happy, seldom is a need felt to make different kind of films – ones that are completely patriotic and yet feature no camouflaged men showering bullets from across enemy lines. Raazi is one such film that promises to delve into the behind-the-scene action. Based on Harinder Sikka’s novel, Calling Sehmat, the film, right in its trailer, establishes Sehmat as a spy. By the time we walk into the theatre, we are already expecting to be bowled over by a film that will be intriguing. But does Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal-starrer Raazi manage to hold our attention just like it has since the time it was announced? Let’s find out…

What to do
Do yourself a favour and go watch Raazi. It is one of those rare films that not only make an impact but also stay with you for a long, long time. Only a fool would miss this one!

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero movie review: Harshvardhan Kapoor’s raw appeal saves this flawed and uneven action drama

Here's our review of Harshvardhan Kapoor-starrer vigilante film

Our verdict
Bhavesh Joshi has moments and scenes that will resonate with a lot of socio-political issues in the country right now. Watch it if you have the palette for something different than the usual.
Rating: 3 out of 5

A city engulfed by corruption, a masked hero wanting to bring reform and save his city from crumbling under the weight of greedy politicians and police officers. Bhavesh Joshi is the story of a bunch of friends – Sikander (Harshvardhan Kapoor), Bhavesh (Priyanshu Painyuli) and Rajat (Ashish Varma) who form a masked vigilante group aimed at eradicating corruption and meting out justice to the common man.

Veere Di Wedding movie review: Unapologetic and brash, this film delivers a knockout punch with its all girl ensemble cast

Here's our review of the Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker, Shikha Talsania-starrer

*** in the City is an iconic show that deals with female companionship and camaraderie. There is no doubt in my mind that Veere Di Wedding was inspired by the characters and theme of this legendary TV show. Even though the ***ual innuendos and expletives are tamed down to suit the desi audience, this all female ensemble of four childhood friends – Avni (Sonam Kapoor), Kalinidi (Kareena Kapoor Khan), Sakshi (Swara Bhaskar), Meera (Shikha Talsania) have several moments and chapters in their life where they ‘let go’ and break several stereotypes

Our verdict
Veere Di Wedding is unapologetic and brash in its message that women can have as much fun as men, if not maybe a little more! Watch it for the all girl ensemble cast that delivers a knockout punch with their performance.

Race 3 movie review: Salman Khan delivers an Eid treat for his fans but the film fails to do justice to the franchise

Race 3 is a treat for Salman fans but it ends at being just that

The Race franchise always seemed to be India’s answer to the slick, mind-boggling films Hollywood churned out every year. With betrayal as its central theme, both Race and Race 2 delivered when it came to twists and turns that would make you do a double take on everything that you believed in. With some crazy action sequences and hot dance numbers thrown into the mix, the films in the franchise looked uber cool and stylish. But with Race 3, things are all set to change. Not only does the latest film in the franchise have a spanking new cast, it also has a new director in the form of choreographer-turned-filmmaker Remo D’Souza. Now Abbas Mustan’s style of filmmaking is completely different to how Remo makes his film. This obviously had us stoked about the film already. Plus, with Salman Khan headlining the cast, we were excited beyond measure to see how he handles the characters in the film, since they are known to have shades of gray. The film released in both 2D and 3D formats. We caught the first day first show of the film in the 3D format to experience Bhai love at its purest and here’s what we thought of the film…

What to do
Race 3 is a treat for Salman fans but it ends at being just that. There is no reason why you shouldn’t buy the tickets to watch Salman Khan doing what he does best. But if you go in expecting to watch the third film of the Race franchise, you might not be too pleased with the way it has been treated.
