The 63rd Cannes Film Festival has kicked off, and as has been practice for past some years now, this prestigious French film festival saw some prominent Indians in attendance.

Shekhar Kapur, who is a member of the jury this year was seen donning a traditional high collared beige achkan with black pants at the Opening Ceremony on May 12th.

There was of course, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as always. Who looked every bit of the gorgeous blue eyed beauty she is, in a pastel gray-lavender colored Ellie Saab slightly off shoulder gown of tulle and mousseline. Alongside Eva Longoria, she was seen walking the red carpet for the premiere of Robin Hood the same day.

In her maiden participation at Cannes was the lovely Deepika Padukone who stuck to a traditional attires. Looking slender the lady showed off a brilliant Rohit Bal designer saree on the red carpet. Hair tied into a traditional bun, Deepika looked every bit a lady of the Indian community she was representing! She was also seen at another time in a dress wear with off white base garnished by light brown and maroon work. Complete with open hair and a bindi atop her fore head, she warmed the hearts of many onlookers with her grace and ease.

Finally there was Mallika Sherawat, a riveting class of her own in a white full length dress, present for Hisss.

Ever since Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walked the red carpet at Cannes Film Fesitval, she has been drawing flak from designers for her wrong choice of outfits and was only able to impress them in 2009 when she wore a white off-shoulder Roberto Cavalli.

For her first ever appearance at Cannes, Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan chose to wear a saree. She was at Cannes with co-actor Shah Rukh Khan and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the screening of their film Devdas. She looked stunning in a golden saree.

While the colour green symbolises nature, life and birth, Aishwarya Rai wearing a green saree at 2003 Cannes made a complete mockery of it and it seemed that a better stylist would do her a world of good.

Aishwarya Rai, who wore a shimmering pink dress with sparkling diamonds at Cannes, was choked at the way the Indian media had been treating her for Cannes 2003 outfit.

Ash wore a gown in 2004 but it took her some telling that her body is not shaped to don a gown and as a result it was another case of Ash not knowing what to wear.
