Karan Singh Grover, Shaan and Vasundhara Das in MTV Rocks India - Full Details
Call it the Rock On effect! Rock music in India has never attracted so much attention since the success of Farhan Akhtar starrer 2008 film Rock On. Our GECs too have now realised the need to tap talented rock stars of the country. A few days after MTV came up with Rock On, Colors is bringing rock music to its stable with Rocks India.
Rocks India is produced by noted actor-RJ Roshan Abbas’ Encompass
Events Pvt Ltd. Singers Shaan and Vasundhara Das have been roped in as the judges while TV hunk Karan Singh Grover is the anchor for the show.
There’ll also be a female anchor who is still to be finalised.
Rocks India goes in air from 27 September and will air every Sunday at 8.00 pm.
“It’s time for India to Rock right back. We will find Desi tunes and Desi dudes with attitude at the Rocks India this time. With Shaan, Vasundhara and music, we can’t go wrong. Karan Singh Grover is the host while we’ll decide on a female anchor in a week’s time,” said producer Roshan Abbas.
For the last three consecutive years Rocks India has been entertaining the fans with its successful concert tours in Indian cities, packed with performances by the likes of Salman Khan, Lara Dutta, Bipasha Basu, Kareena Kapoor, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Sonu Nigam. This year Rocks India will traverse the length and breadth of the country to discover the best musicians.
The auditions will be held across ten cities in the country starting from Chandigarh on 2 September.
About the show:
- Idea Rocks India is a unique musical talent hunt show launched on Colors channel on 27th September 2009.The show aimed at discovering fresh young talent who had the potential to entertain the world. The search was designed to find musicians, instrumentalists and singers in order to come up with the best music band in the country.
- Auditions for the new season began in 2014 across 68 towns in India
Contestants:
- The show requites contestants to be 18 years and above who already have a band, are members of a band or those who aspire to become a part of a band. It covers all genres of music – Indian as well as Western.Idea Rocks India proved to be show which promoted new talent. The contestants were required to undergo a weekly process of performances, voting and elimination.
- The performances were judged by ace artists – musicians and singers of the country.
- Celebrity judges like 'Shaan', Vasundhara Das, Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa were roped in for different seasons to bring out the best of talent out of the shortlisted contestants. The latest season has Sunidhi Chauhan, Mika Singh and Karthik as judges.
JUDGES:
- Shaan: Shaan is a versatile singer, music composer, lyricist and a music director who has sung phenomenal songs in Hindi, Bengali, Urdu and Kannada as well.He became renowned after his track “Bhool Jaa” which was loved by many people. He continued to sing for big flick movies. He has judged other reality shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2000 – 2009, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs and Star Voice of India.
- Vasundhara Das: Vasundhara Das is known for her appearance alongside Kamal Haasan in the movie ‘Hey Ram’. She made her singing debut with A.R. Rahman with a song in Tamil movie ‘Mudhalvan’.
- Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy: The famous trio is well known for their brilliant work in the field of music.Shankar Mahadevan is a multi talented singer and composer known for his songs in Kal Ho Naa Ho, Taare Zameen Par, Dil Chahta Hai, 2 States and many more.Ehsaan Noorani is guitarist among the trio.Loy Mendonsa is a key board player.
