Tried and Tested Formulas that Indian TV Makers Resort To, To Break The Monotony Of Daily Soaps!

Indian TV shows have little variety to show when it comes to the tracks and the way the story progresses. While the
', which enjoy immense popularity, despite having 'out of the box' concepts.

However, there is little choice that the viewers have, given the monotony of the daily soaps. And, while the makers do manage to create high point drama at regular intervals, it turns out to be nothing but a repetition of what we have already seen before.
So, here we list down the tried and tested formulas that every Indian TV maker makes use of, when they see there is little scope to stretch the already stretched drama.

1. Getting the LEAD(s) Kidnapped!

Let's not even talk about how much this formula has been exploited. And surprisingly, this is one track that has been trending on almost all the leading daily soaps right now. For starters, there is Pragya (

Sriti Jha) from Kumkum Bhagya who keeps getting kidnapped, just before we think she's about to unite with Abhi (
Shabbir Ahluwalia). Then there are

Star Plus' '
Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' and '
Ishqbaaaz' and Colors' 'Shakti...Astitva Ke Ehsaas Kii'.

2. Introducing a new Villain out of the blue!
And, this one is yet another done and dusted trick that's been seen a thousand times. Just when we think there is going to be a happy ending to the love story, enter a long lost enemy. From there on, what we see, is what we can already gauge. The latest example would be '
Yeh Hai Mohabbatein', where first Nidhi (
Pavitra Punia) and then Ashok returned after a gap.

3. An accident followed by memory loss or coma!
An accident sets base for many twists and turns and then, one of the major plots that follows is the lead losing his/her memory. One other possible tracks include he scope for a new entry in the place of the original lead. An example here would be 'Kasam Tere Pyar Ki' for the former, and '
Ishqbaaaz' for the latter (
Surbhi Chandnaaka Anika lost her memory) and '
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' (Naitik aka
Karan Mehrawent into coma).

4. The Lead or a family member being Jailed!
Sending the lead/family member to jail is yet another track that helps roll out some major drama. ******s, ****s, etc. are all tools that enable the same. The latest show to showcase the jail drama is
Sony TV's '
Beyhadh' where post Maya (
Jennifer Winget) alleging Ayaan (Summit Bhardwaj) of ****, the latter was sent to jail.

5. Introducing a Leap in the show!
What else do you think turn out to be effective tools for the makers to spice up the daily soaps? Do you agree to the ones already listed? Leave your comments below.
