Default Juiciest highlights from Macau

We at StarBoxOffice brought you all the IIFA news from the day the venue was announced to pictures of celebrities returning home to Mumbai. We are not done yet - here are some of the juiciest highlights of all that conspired on, off and behind the IIFA stage!

Juiciest highlights from Macau : Riteish, Boman, Ashutosh

Ashu spat with Riteish and Boman

This time, Ashu took offense to Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani’s skit on Jodhaa Akbar and another one where the comic duo compared Ashutosh and Anil Kapoor when at the Oscars for Lagaan and Slumdog Millionaire respectively.

Riteish and Boman performed spoofs on all the films nominated in the Best Film category, of which Jodhaa Akbar was one. No other person present at the event took offense to this except Ashutosh. Sources state that the spoof was just hilarious and not offensive at all.

The angry Ashu stormed into the green room asking Riteish and Boman to stop poking fun at others, referring to the former as a ‘minister’s son’. The poor organizers had to resort to pleading with Ashutosh not to make a scene, as it was an international event and this would reflect a bad picture of Bollywood. Riteish also is said to have flared up at Ashutosh’s comment and told him to develop a sense of humour and to not take everything personally. Even Boman questioned Ashutosh as to how come he did not react when SRK cracked jokes as a host.

And back on stage, the duo continued with another spoof on Drona, when Abhishek came up on stage and congratulated them. Big B has commented about Boman and Riteish’s performance as ‘hilarious and outstanding’ on his blog.

The organizers are said to be considering not inviting Ashu for future events!

Lovey-dovey couple Abhiwarya

Abhishek and Aishwarya are in the second year of their marriage, and still very much in love. They openly showered their affection for each other at the various award functions, something that they rarely do. Aishwarya was seen pulling Abhishek by the hands playfully while walking along, when she thought he was spending too much time in talking to the media.

And when on stage on Saturday night, Abhishek was mouthing the words “Baby, you’re the best,” as he accepted the award for the Best Comic Role in Dostana. Earlier, when Aishwarya received an award for outstanding achievement by an Indian in global cinema, she said to Abhishek in her speech: "You're the best husband!" During his performance, Abhishek also made his lovely wife jump up and dance with him in the packed auditorium, in front of her seat. Aishwarya’s face was animated every time Abhishek laughed or cracked a joke, when he was on stage. And whenever Aishwarya was on stage, love was very much evident on hubby Abhishek’s face. Aww!!

Vivek on another mission (to) Istanbul

Last year, Vivek Oberoi was all out at IIFA promoting his movie Mission Istanbul, which later bombed at the box office, and this year, Vivek gives IIFA a skip to attend his Turkish friends’ wedding in Istanbul. He also plans to go on a 20-day holiday to Europe after the wedding.

A source close to Vivek says that the organizers wanted him to attend the awards function and perform, but he was not be able to do so because of the wedding. Vivek has a number of films lined up in the coming year, such as Qurbaan and Rakta Charitra, and wants to stay away from any kind of controversy. But some little birdies tell us another reason behind Vivek giving IIFA a miss. He is apparently hurt with reports that he was trying to get chummy with Abhishek and Aishwarya at KJo’s birthday bash. According to a source, Aishwarya and Vivek just greeted each other politely, while Abhishek was talking to him about his films.
