Default Review: 'Ikyawann'

#PromoReview: 'Ikyawann' with Prachi Tehlan as the GROWN-UP promises a breath of fresh air!

The Nayi Soch of Star Plus continues to turn stronger.

Ikywann on Star Plus tells the story of Parekh family where 50 generations have been blessed with a baby boy, and unlike what is generally shown on TV, this family has been waiting for a girl child to take birth.
It is the 51st generation of the family that is finally blessed with a girl child. This however is followed by the girl losing her mother, post which it is her father and his brothers that manage to take care of her.

What is it about?

The second promo of the show portrays the grown-up Susheel (Prachi Tehlan) and how she has been brought up by the 4 men of the family. From the very start, they struggle to induce any of the feminine qualities in her which gradually leads her into becoming what we know of as a tomboy.

A cricket bat over teddy bears and a jeans top over lehengas and suits, the story of Susheel is indeed twisted and yet, quite simple. Read as we analyse how the second promo of the show continues to keep up with what the first brought in for us.

The Good

For starters, we love how a show has been made where it is the girl child that is waited upon to be brought into this world, and not ****ed. The Nayi Soch, here, is quite evident and deserves all the appreciation.

The portrayal of the first female in a family that has had generations of males is evidently funny, but at the same time commendable.

The not so good:

Not too much to not dislike, despite all the highs that the promo has in store for us, it did turn into just another typical question of the society when, "Kaun karega isse shaadi' was raised.

Verdict

Focusing on the positive and all the good that the show promises to bring for us in the form of this promo, we think that we might finally have a show that we'll be proud of.

#PromoReview: 'Ikyavan' depicts a Father-Daughter relationship in a completely different light!

Looks like the show has much to offer to the audience..

Star Plus' is all set to cater to their 'Nayi Soch' concept majorly with their next show Ikyavan.

Ikyavan depicts the story of the Parekh family where 50 generations of the family have been blessed with a baby boy, but unlike the stereotypical families shown on television, this family has been waiting for a girl child to take birth.

Their wish is finally granted as the 51st generation of the family is a blessed with a girl child. But this milestone event is marked with sorrow as the girl looses her mother and her father along with his brothers struggle to bring her up.

What is the promo about?

The promo starts with a father struggling to feed his daughter but eventually succeeding in doing so. It is because of this visual that we realize that the baby's mother is no more.

Another scenario showcases the man and his father getting down from an auto-rickshaw while returning from the market. Unfortunately, they completely forget about their baby girl in the rush. Baffled and worried, he searches for his daughter and is relieved to see that she is safe with a rickshaw driver.

And in a rather cute moment, the baby unknowingly wipes the tears of her father's face which is cinematic brilliance.

What we liked:

As mentioned above as well, the show's concept is out-of-the-box and with the changing mindset of the audience who are no more skeptical about niche concepts; it is a great attempt and has the potential to succeed.

A fresh/soulful song has been composed for the show; a part of which plays in the background of the promo and the song blends beautifully with the visuals.

The struggle that a single father in nurturing his daughter has been beautifully projected in this promo.

What we did not like:

We did not really find anything to pick at in the first promo.

Verdict :

This definitely seems to be a new concept that Star Plus has been experimenting with under their 'nayi soch' ideology and it does seem to have the potential to carve a niche for itself.

Ratings: **** (4/5 stars)
