Default The Lion King First Reviews: High Pre-Release Buzz & Critics’ Opinion Just Don’t Add

The Lion King First Reviews:*The Lion King which hits the theatre next week in India is already making a lot of noise, and why not, when it witnesses Shah Rukh Khan dubbing for the central character of Musafa and his son, Aryan Khan, who’s providing voice over for Simba. Plus, there are singers like Armaan Mallik and Sunidhi Chauhan providing their soulful voices!

The early reviews for the movie are out, and to a strange note, it’s mixed! The movie hasn’t been as blissful as anticipated by many and below are some of the posts that suggest so:

The Lion King First Reviews: High Pre-Release Buzz & Critics’ Opinion Just Don’t Add Up!Adam B. Vary, the senior reporter of Buzzfeed who attended the special screening wrote,” #TheLionKing is a landmark *visual* experience. I’ve never seen anything like it, and I think it’s going to change how we look at movies forever. As an *emotional* experience, though…I’ll put it this way: It turns out lions can’t really emote.

“deepfake copycat ain’t so grrreat,” says the headline of review by The Gaurdian further mentioning, “This is an anthro-leonine deepfake of impressive proportions, but the new Lion King gains in shock and awe while losing in character and wit. These are walking, talking animals that are realer than real and whose facial/speech patterns are eerily plausible – way past the unsatisfying oddities of Babe the pig from long ago, with moving mouths pasted on animal faces.”

Indiawire wrote, “Remake Is a Disastrous Plunge into the Uncanny Valley”

Scott Mendelson of Forbes warned moviegoers as he wrote, “be prepared for a crushing disappointment.”

That’s the international scenario, now let’s see how the Indian media finds it. Only time will tell.

The Lion King“, directed by Jon Favreau, journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. However, Scar — Mufasa’s brother and former heir to the throne — has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock has tragedy and drama, and results in Simba’s exile.

With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

The Lion King” opens on July 19 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions.
