Default WikiLeaks - Great British Bake Off 2017 WINNER

Prue Leith appears to spoil Great British Bake Off 2017 WINNER in huge Twitter blunder | Great British Bake Off 2017Judge blames time zone difference for her mistake (NB. our article is spoiler-free)

The Great British Bake Off 2017 judge Prue Leith slipped up today when she appeared to reveal a MAJOR spoiler about the show's grand final (NB. this article is spoiler-free).

Tonight's instalment of the popular baking contest will see contestants Kate Lyon, Sophie Faldo and Steven Carter-Bailey go head-to-head in a bid to be crowned its series eight champion.

However, some unsuspecting Twitter users may now know the result over nine hours early after Prue made a huge mistake.

At 10.37am this morning, she posted a message on the social networking site which seemingly revealed who the winner is.

"No one told me judging a #gbbo final would be so emotional. I wanted them all to win," she wrote on @PrueLeith. "Bravo [redacted]."
Moments later, Prue deleted the offending Tweet and posted an apology.

According to the BBC, the food expert is currently in Bhutan, which is six hours ahead of UK time, and she blamed the time difference for her blunder.

"I am so sorry to the fans of the show for my mistake this morning," she tweeted. "I am in a different time zone and mortified by my error."
Responding to the controversy, a Channel 4 spokesperson told the Beeb: "Prue has just tweeted an apology to fans. We have no further comment."

This is not the first time that a Bake Off judge has accidentally let one of the show's results slip.

During the sixth series in 2015, Mary Berry revealed contestant Dorret Conway's elimination in a morning radio interview on the day her exit episode was broadcast.

The Great British Bake Off 2017 final airs tonight at 8.00pm on Channel 4.
