They are making headlines for all the obvious reasons at the London Olympics 2012. These sportswomen have proved themselves by winning the prestigious medal for their respective sport at the games. Here are some of the big wins so far!

Saina Nehwal: Our favourite sportswoman won the bronze medal when her Chinese rival Wang Xin, who was leading 21-18, 1-0, pulled out with a leg injury. Superb win!

Tiki Gelana: Marathoner Tiki Gelana of Ethiopia enjoyed a fabulous victory by winning gold in an Olympic record time of 2 hours 23 minutes and 7 seconds! Cool, isn't it?



Williams sisters: Serena and Venus Williams won the doubles gold medal on Sunday. The sisters couldn't be happier!

Gabby Douglas: She is the first African-American woman to win gold at the Olympic gymnastics individual all-around. Kudos!



Sandra Izbasa: Sandra Izbasa of Romania beat American favourite McKayla Maroney to win gold in the women's gymnastics vault final at the Olympics!

Sanya Richards-Ross: Athlete Richards-Ross won the 400-metre final and took home the first US gold at the London Oympics 2012.
