Follow Wikinewforum on Twitter
It’s a daily or frequent task for men to shave their facial hair to look presentable and well groomed. However, there are certain problems that arise when it comes to the aftermath of shaving. Some of the issues like razor bumps, burns and in-growths are extremely common. To get a clear picture and erase signs of shaving problems for men we look at each problem and its solution. *Images courtesy: © Thinkstock photos/ Getty Images

Razor burns:
Reasons for razor burns: There are several reasons for razor burns; either you are not using the right foam, so that the blade glides easily or you’re using a lot of pressure on your skin or the razor is blunt.

Prevention of razor burns: Get a shaving foam that is gentle on your skin and creates a thick layer so that the blade glides easily. Get a sharp razor and gently draw the blade for shaving. Clean and wash the blade often after a few strokes.

Prevention for razor bumps: For beginners, shave in the right direction to avoid, rashes, burns and bumps. Secondly you need to protect and nourish your skin after you shave. Choose a cooling agent that suits your skin, and moisturize your skin after you shave to maintain a healthy glow.

In-growths:
Reasons for in-growths: A blunt blade, close shaves, dry hair at the time of shaving, or even stretching your skin can cause in-growths.

Prevention for in-growths: Easy, use the right blade for shaving. Use an electric razor to avoid close shave, rinse the blade and wet your hair. Also prevent in-growths by shaving in the direction of the hair.

Cuts while shaving:
Reasons for cuts while shaving:
It may be macho to sport cuts and wounds, but getting cut by a blade is like a childhood fight - careless. You can cut yourself in two ways: A sharp blade or a blunt blade.

Prevention for Cuts while shaving: Avoid using a blunt razor; it is difficult to gauge the pressure on the handle. This is one reason you need to discard it and opt for a fresh blade. But this has its downside too. A new blade equals a better shave, but you can’t apply the same amount of pressure on the handle and the skin. It only leads to cuts, cuts, and more cuts.

Barber’s rash:
Reasons for barber’s rash: When you experience rash and irritation on your skin, you have the barber’s rash. As the name suggests, it is closely associated with the times when barbers were especially called to shave men’s facial hair. The reason for barber’s rash could be that the blade is dirty, infested and not washed properly. Even your towel can give you a barber’s rash.

Prevention for barber’s rash: Hygiene is the word to prevent barber’s rash. Use a clean razor and freshly washed towel to prevent it. A visit to the doctor can also help, as he or she will prescribe some antibiotics for a speedy recovery.
