After much waiting, Samsung’s Galaxy S III has been launched in India. But the price tag is a whopping Rs 43,180 reports Tech2.in.

So for all those who were hoping that the phone would be less than 40k the price is going to be a major shock. But hey its still cheaper than the iPhone 4S whose 16 GB version cost Rs 44,500. Although the phone is much costlier than its biggest Android rival, HTC One X, which costs only Rs 37,000. To know which phone fares better you can check out our comparison here.

The S III comes with a music service, called MusicHub, a rival of sorts to Apple’s iTunes. The phone has received rave reviews already and Samsung had nearly 9 million pre-order bookings for the phone before its launch.

The Galaxy S III has 3 versions: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Other key technical specifications of the phone are:

A 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

The device is super light as it weighs 133g and is only 8.6 mm thick.

It has a Samsung’s quad-core microprocessor and has 1GB RAM.

In addition Dropbox has promised every consumer who registers the phone free 50GB cloud storage space.

The phone also comes with S Voice command, which is touted as Samsung’s rival to Apple’s Siri. The S III runs on Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich.

The handset, prior to its official launch had been up for pre-booking on several sites like eBay, Infibeam, Snapdeal, among others.

The new Galaxy will be powered by Samsung's quad-core microprocessor. The phone comes engineered with a 2100mAh battery.


It has a "Direct call" feature, which means if you are messaging someone but decide to call them instead, simply lift your phone to your ear and "Direct call" will dial their number.

The Exynos 4 Quad, based on British chip designer ARM Holdings Cortex A9 technology, enables more tasks in a shorter period of time.



The Galaxy S III has 16GB of itnernal storage space. The memory of the Galaxy S III is expandable up to 64GB, using a microSD card. The phone is engineered with a 2100 mAh battery.

Initially, the Galaxy S III will be available in Pebble Blue and Marble White. Samsung says to introduce a variety of additional color options later.



The connectivity options icnlude WiFi a/b/g/n, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0(LE).


The Galaxy S III features 'S Voice,' the advanced natural language user interface, to listen and respond to your words.


t has a 'Smart Alert' feature. The phone is claimed to save you from trouble by catching any missed messages or calls; the phone will vibrate to notify missed statuses when picked up after being idle.
