Default Measurement Value Recording Using Mobile Data Entry Systems

Measurement Value Recording Using Mobile Data Entry Systems

Use

Locations where current measurement values must be recorded, are often geographically far apart from each other. Measurement value recording using mobile data entry systems (for example, using WAP-enabled mobile phones (Wireless Application Protocol) makes entering measurement values considerably easier.

For a district heating, the transfer stations must be checked regularly. For example, the operating hours and, if necessary, the damage code must be determined and recorded for the pumps.
You enter the desired measuring point into a WAP-enabled mobile telephone, for example.

This displays the last recorded measurement document. You record the new measurement value and, if necessary, qualitative measurement values (for example, damage codes). Once you have saved, the data is transferred to the SAP system.

Features

The measurement value recording is available, for example, on the following mobile data entry systems:
  • Barcode reader
  • Mobile telephones (for example, WAP-enabled mobile phones)
The built-in micro-browser interprets WML (Wireless Markup Language).
  • Cordless PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) (for example, PocketPC®, Palm®)
The built-in micro-browser interprets WML (Wireless Markup Language). As a rule, the corresponding WML browser is also installed.
It is possible to test mobile measurement value recording without a mobile telephone. You can either install a WAP simulator on your PC or use a standard internet browser to perform the tests.

If you are already an SAP customer, you can find further information on the Intranet under service.sap.com/plm (in the area of Asset Life-Cycle Management).

You can also get further information from our Product Management: mySAP Product Lifecycle Management - Asset Life-Cycle Management.
