- ‘Dancing with the Stars’
In the Spring, Kristi Yamaguchi skated past the competition to win Season 6. The next group of celebs to hit the dance floor almost seemed to be cursed. During Season 7, comic Jeffery Ross scratched his cornea, volleyball player Misty May-Treanor withdrew after rupturing her Achilles tendon, and dancer Julianne Hough had to have surgery for endometriosis, just to name a few mishaps.
- ‘Hannah Montana’
She’s Miley by day and a pop singer by night. In the second season of the highly-rated TV series, Hannah Montana lived the best of both worlds and released a 3D concert film.
- ‘The View’
With most of the media turning their attention to the 2008 election, this Emmy award-winning talk show was no exception. The outspoken co-hosts entertained us every morning with their heated discussions and catfights. Elisabeth Hasselbeck returned from maternity leave in January just in time to add a conservative voice to the more liberal group of women.
- ‘Lost’
Season 4 was shortened due to the writers’ strike, but there was still time for the Oceanic Six to make a departure and for some new visitors to arrive on the island. Need to get caught up on the story? Don’t worry if you’ve missed a few episodes (or a few seasons). In May, ABC began posting full episodes of ‘Lost’ on its website.
- ‘Deal or No Deal’
I’ll take case number 4! This season, Jessica Robinson chose the right case and became the show’s first $1 million winner. Now that’s a good deal. Other contestants were surprised when celebrity guests including Ellen DeGeneres and President Bush stopped by to wish them good luck.
AND 6-10
- ‘Days of Our Lives’
The saga of the Horton and Brady families has been unfolding for more than four decades, and soap fans still can’t get enough of ‘Days.’ After some outlandish (yet memorable) plots, the once family-oriented drama returned to its roots this year with a storyline about a family dealing with a child’s diagnosis of autism.
- ‘Juno’
Ellen Page played a delightfully witty and very pregnant teen in this comedy. A few months after the movie left theaters, a survey showed that teen pregnancy rates were on the rise for the first time in over a decade. Is it the Juno effect?
- ‘So You Think You Can Dance’
Thousands from across the country auditioned for a spot dancing in this summer’s hottest show, but only the most talented made the cut. In the end, Joshua Allen took home the $250,000 grand prize and the title of ‘America’s Favorite Dancer.’
- ‘High School Musical’
They grow up so fast! This year, our favorite high schoolers are graduating from East High, but they aren’t leaving quietly. For their third and final film, the students moved from the TV screen to the silver screen for a graduation extravaganza filled with singing and dancing.
