Default Topic 36: How to View Multiple Worksheets in Excel at the same time?

Do you use multiple worksheets in Excel 2007? Discover the benefits of using it here.

Well, if you need to work on two worksheets at the same time, maybe for comparison purpose, Excel makes it easy to do. You just need to display two windows and arrange them to both be visible.

Then, you can quickly compare two worksheets in the same workbook by viewing them side by side. You can also use the same technique to view multiple worksheets from different workbooks. This tutorial shows you how to do that!

To view multiple worksheets at the same time

  • Open the workbook that contains the worksheets that you want to view at the same time.
  • On the View tab, in the Window group, click New Window icon. Excel opens a second instance of the same workbook. icon.
  • On the newly opened workbook, click the View tab, in the Window group, click Arrange All icon. Excel displays the Arrange Windows dialog box.

  • From the Arrange Windows dialog box displayed, choose one of the options Excel should use to arrange your windows.
  • Click on OK.
In each of the windows you can display different worksheets, even though they are part of the same workbook. When you are done, simply close one of the windows. It is interesting to note that if you have a need to do so, you can view more than twoworksheets from the same workbook.

To view two worksheets in the same workbook side by side

  • Open the workbook that contains the worksheets that you want to view at the same time.
  • On the View tab, in the Window group, click New Window. Excel opens a second instance of the same workbook.
  • On the newly opened workbook, click the View tab, in the Window group, click View Side by Side.

  • To scroll both worksheets at the same time, click Synchronous Scrolling. This option is available only when View Side by Side is turned on.
