Protagonists turn antagonists

An artiste is never bound by the shades of his/her character, for a true actor will portray both negative and positive characters with ease and elan. Television has witnessed the second coming of some of the actors who shot to fame as either the docile bahus or doting sons and caring husbands. But the welcome change this time is that they are seen in characters in contrast to the characters that catapulted them to fame. Seen in a negative shade, the actors have mesmerised their fans who had never imagined them in a negative avatar before. Indya lists out some of the actors who have turned negative from positive and still receiving rave reviews.

Sharad Kelkar:

He catapulted to fame as Nahar Banna of Zee TV Saat Phere returned for his second innings as the vicious Thakur Digvijay in Balaji Telefilms’ Bairi Piya. Kelkar is doing a commendable job as the slimy Thakur, who wants the protagonist Amoli at any cost in his life. He manages to marry her too and that’s where we come to know that a Thakur will get what he wants to come what may. Sharad’s transformation from protagonist to antagonist has only increased his fan following

She was seen in STAR One’s Pari Hoon Main in a complete postive avatar and her protrayal of scheming and plotting Tapasya in Uttaran had us in awe of the talent she possesses. Even the seasoned actors now wish to work with her and feel that she is a blessing to television industry.

Surekha Sikri: Surekha has won accolades for the character of stubborn and indifferent dadi sa from every nook and corner. A lady who is gender biased has won her praises from critics as well. She was seen as a positive and doting Bhabo who was actually a maid servant and raised the children of the family in Saat Phere

Ali Merchant: The actor is doing both positive and negative characters simultaneously. Remembered for his positive roles in Amber - Dhara and lesser known Ruby, the actor got back on Bidaai as Rituraj, a character that has grey shades to it. Not entirely negative but he is always seen busy locking horns with the protagonist Naitik. And now he has his wife to give him company to create trouble in the paradise of Naitik and Akshara. Well, we can't speak for Akshara ad Naitik but we surely love this hot looking devil
