Manasarovar
Written by Ashokamitran, in this novel Satyan Kumar, reigning screen god in the 1960s, moves from Mumbai to the Madras film industry. There he meets Gopalan, a middling studio writer. Between the two men blossoms an inexplicable bond.
As personal tragedies tear their lives apart, both men stumble and fall before understanding their roles in these seemingly random events that radically transform their lives.
In this novel, Ashokamitran examines the limited capacity of mortals to deal with pain and sorrow, and the essential need for redemption for the continuation of life.
