Default India's most preferred states for entrepreneurs

A perception survey titled 'Entrepreneurial India' jointly released today by KPMG International and The Indus Entrepreneurs shows Gujarat as the most preferred destination for entrepreneurs nationwide.


The study covered 1,000 entrepreneurs across 15 Indian states. Check out the country's most preferred states fro entrepreneurs.

1. Gujarat, 23.3%

The survey finds that 23.3 per cent entrepreneurs preferred Gujarat as the state for their new venture.
The research further suggests that India has achieved a lot to instill confidence in its entrepreneurs but much still needs to be achieved in order to create an entrepreneur friendly environment.



Finance is another problem with Indian entrepreneurs. "Indian entrepreneurs say finance still not easily available but are positive about ongoing Infrastructure development," the survey states.

2. Maharashtra, 13.4%

Maharashtra with 13.4 per cent is the second most-preferred state in India for entrepreneurs.



Maharashtra is India's top industrialised state. Mumbai, the capital of the state and the financial hub of the country, is home to Bollywood film industry, the Bombay Stock Exchange, and thousands of corporate offices.
The state boasts is home to almost all major industry sectors. Agriculturally too Maharashtra is blessed.

3. Haryana, 7.5%

Haryana is the third most-preferred state in India for entrepreneurs.
Haryana has in the last few years received huge amounts of foreign direct investment. It also boasts of a very robust and thriving manufacturing and services sector.



There are hundreds of large-scale and medium-scale industries in the state, including Maruti Suzuki Limited, Hero Honda, Escorts Sony, Whirlpool, Bharti Telecom, Orient Fans, Yamaha Motor India, ABB, et cetera.
Gurgaon in Haryana was ranked as the best city in India to set up a software unit or a BPO centre.

4. Delhi, 5.6%

Delhi ranked fourth in the list of states most-preferred by entrepreneurs.



After Mumbai, Delhi is India's second largest commercial hub. It is the seat of the Indian government. The state has a booming presence in the fields of information technology, telecommunications, banking, manufacturing, media, hotels, tourism, etc.
