Tennis at the games and India strikes Gold in Men's Doubles
In the Gold Medal match for men's doubles the Indian duo of Somdev devvarman and Sanam Singh took on the Chinese pair of Gong and Li. The Indians took the first set convincingly at 6-3. In the second the battle was closely contested as the Indians were matched point for point but the Chinese prevailed in the tie break. IN The third and decisive set the super tie break, the Indians led 9-5 but the Chinese inched closer. But the Indians held on and grabbed gold taking the breaker 10-8!


The marksmen win Archery Bronze for India
The Indian team of Jayanta Talukdar, Rahul Banerjee and Mangal Singh Champiya defeated Chinese Taipei in the Archery team event to win the archery bronze medal at the Asian Games. The marksmen who lost to South Korea 216-222 in the semifinal, beat Chinese Taipei 220-218 in a closely contested match at the Aoti Archery Range.



Boxing day for India
Five-time world champion M C Mary Kom (51kg) and Kavita Goyat (75kg) assured India of at least two bronze medals in women's boxing by advancing to the semifinals with contrasting wins at the Asian Games. Magnificent mary eased her way to the next round after thrashing Chieh Meng Ping of Chinese Taipei 16-2. Kavita Goyat however had fight off Marina Volnova of Kazakhstan before winning 8-7.
