Chairman of mining outfit Vedanta Resources Anil Agarwal pledged $ 1 billion to build a new university in the eastern state of Orissa. Apart from arts and sciences, medicine and engineering, it plans research centers for bio- and nanotechnology, crop genetics and alternative energy.
