New 200 (Rs) Rupees Currency Note Features: The new Rs 200 denomination notes will be circulated in the system from Friday, August 25, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) confirmed on Thursday. This is the fourth new note to be announced since November when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an overnight ban on Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 notes to choke tax evaders. 200 (Rs) Rupees Note Features, Dimensions, Identification

The notes will bear the signature of RBI governor Urjit Patel. The new Rs. 200 denomination has Motif of Sanchi Stupa on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage. The base colour of the note is Bright Yellow. The note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse.

Size: The dimension of the new Rs. 200 banknote will be 66 mm x 146 mm

The government says the Rs. 200 notes will inject more low denomination currency in the system.

This exercise of printing Rs. 200 denomination notes is being undertaken to further improve the currency situation in the country, the report said, adding the problem people are facing due to high-value Rs. 2,000 notes would also be taken care of with the circulation of Rs.200 notes.

In a surprise announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the s****ping of old notes of Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 denomination, wiping out over 85 per cent of the cash in circulation.
