Shekhar Kapoor: Masoom
'Masoom' or 'The Innocent' is Shekhar Kapur's directorial debut that stirred up society with several introspective questions on love, fidelity and acceptance. Broadly based on 'Man, Woman and Child' written by Erich Segal, Kapoor creates ripples in the lives of a normal family faced with thorny issues they have no experience of. Brilliant performances by actors Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi as a married couple struggling to come to terms with an act of infidelity, makes the movie what it is. If it is human to err, why is forgiving difficult? The junior actors will always be memorable for bringing out the tension that children imbibe from their limited understanding of feuding grownups and their issues.
