Biopics are the new hot trend in Bollywood and every actor wants to essay the role of somebody who was once a nobody. Are they successful at the box office? Not necessarily. It depends on the director who directs or a writer who writes it and an actor who enacts it. While Azhar was a dud at the box office, Sanju is creating a storm at the ticket windows. The connection between TV and biopics too, goes a long way. Many prominent personalities on television had a chance to star in biopics. Though they all weren’t as fortunate as Sushant Singh Rajput who landed a plump role in MS Dhoni, yet they had pivotal roles to play. From Sakshi Tanwar to Ankita Lokhande, telly land celebs have embraced many biopics in the past and gave us some memorable characters to cherish. On that note, let’s rewind and even forward to see which TV actor starred in which biopic or a movie inspired from real life incidences. Starting with Sakshi Tanwar of course…
Sakshi Tanwar – Dangal

Sakshi Tanwar who marked her Bollywood debut with Aamir Khan’s Dangal was simply amazing in the movie. Playing the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat’s wife – Daya Kaur, she had to blend in as a wife and a mother. Her character was essential to the storyline and as Aamir described her, ‘She was a one take actress.’
Sushant Singh Rajput

We all know Sushant Singh Rajput was the apt choice to play Mahendra Singh Dhoni in his biopic. The actor was loved for his performance and the way he brilliantly portrayed Dhoni on the silver screen. In fact, the success of Dhoni’s biopic prompted the makers to plan its sequel which might star Sushant in the lead again. Mouni Roy will mark her Bolywood debut with Akshay Kumar’s Gold that releases this Independence Day. Though it’s not a biopic, the story is based on a real-life event. It revolves around India’s first gold medal win at the Olympics as a free country. Mouni plays a very supporting wife to Akshay. Karishma Tanna recently made her Bollywood debut with Sanju wherein she played Vicky Kaushal’s girlfriend. The movie was a biopic on Sanjay Dutt’s life and it wasn’t the ideal debut one looks forward to. Yet Karishma gave her nod for two major reasons. First being Rajkumar Hirani, second being Ranbir Kapoor.
