The desi connection Wikipedia, the world's largest online storehouse of collaborative knowledge, turns 10 on 15 January 2011. Wikipedia is now targeting India to further its growth. The first Wikipedia office outside the United States will open in India. Indians and people of Indian origin have made their presence felt in the world's top technology and Internet companies and the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organisation that runs the online encyclopaedia, is no different. A number of individuals of Indian origin are a part of the core of the organisation. |

Bishakha Datta A member of the Wikimedia Board since March 2010, Mumbai-based Bishakha Datta is also a member of the board of the non-profit organisation Point of View. A writer and filmmaker, Datta has an MA in in Communications from Stanford University, as well as an MA in English Literature and BA in Economics from the University of Mumbai. Her term on the Wikimedia Board ends in December 2012. |

She holds a Master of Science in Media Arts and Sciences from MIT Media Laboratory and a Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science from University of California Berkeley. |

Kul Takanao Wadhwa Kul Wadhwa is Wikimedia's head of business development. A son of an Indian-American businessman and a Japanese scholar, Wadhwa has an MA in International Policy Studies and a BA in Political Science from Stanford University. He has previously worked with CyberTrust Japan, BUG, Pangea2 and NBC. |
