Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (née Aishwarya Rai,Tulu: ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯಾ ರೈ; born 1 November 1973) is an Indian actress and former Miss World. Before starting her acting career, she worked as a model and gained fame after winning the Miss World title in 1994. During her career, Rai has acted in over 40 movies in Hindi, English, Tamil and Bengali, which include a number of international productions.

Often cited by the media as the most beautiful woman in the world, Rai made her movie debut in Mani Ratnam's Tamil film Iruvar (1997) and had her first commercial success in the Tamil movie Jeans (1998). She came to the attention of Bollywood in the movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Her performance in the film won her the Filmfare Best Actress Award. In 2002 she appeared in Bhansali's next project, Devdas (2002), for which she won her second Filmfare Best Actress Award.

Iruvar
 
Iruvar (Tamil: இருவர்; English: The Duo) is a 1997 Tamil film directed and co-written by Mani Ratnam, with music composed by A. R. Rahman. The film is a fictionalized account of the lives of 1980s Tamil Nadu political icons M. G. Ramachandran and M. Karunanidhi, continuing the influential relationship between Tamil cinema and Dravidian politics.

The film also saw the movie debut of Aishwarya Rai, then a model and former beauty queen. It was subsequently dubbed in Telugu under the title Iddaru and in Malayalam as Iruvar. The cinematography was by Santosh Sivan.

The film was showcased in the Masters section at the 1997 Toronto International Film Festival. The film won the Best Film award at the Belgrade International Film Festival, two National Film Awards, and two Filmfare Awards South.

Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya
 
Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya is a 1997 Indian Bollywood film. The film starred Bobby Deol and Aishwarya Rai. This is the first Hindi movie for Aishwarya Rai. The movie also featured two songs by the celebrated Qawwali singer, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Its story is somewhat similar to the 1994 English film "Only You."

Jeans (Tamil: ஜீன்ஸ்) is a 1998 Tamil musical romance film. Directed and written by Shankar and produced by Ashok Amritraj and Murali Manohar, it stars Prashanth, Aishwarya Rai and Nassar in the lead roles. Raju Sundaram and Lakshmi, prominent actors from the south Indian film industry, played the roles of the lead characters' relatives in the movie. The film features a successful soundtrack from A. R. Rahman, whilst Ashok Kumar and the pair of B. Lenin and V. T. Vijayan take care of the cinematography and editing respectively.

As a result of Nachiappan's separation from his twin brother, he wants his sons to be married to twins. However, Visu falls in love with a girl, Madhumitha, who visits the USA to help her grandmother remove a brain tumour. Visu and Ramu are medical students who are attached to the hospital where Madhu's grandmother has her operation, and mistake requires Visu's intervention. After helping Madhu's grandmother, he eventually tells her his father's wishes. Madhu and her family thus put on a double act, introducing Vaishnavi as her twin sister. What happens next forms the rest of the story...

The film opened to Indian audiences after several delays, on 24 April 1998 just after the Tamil New Year, and was the most expensive film to be made in India at the time.<sup id="cite_ref-moneybudget_1-1" class="reference">[2]</sup> Despite receiving mixed reviews on the actors' performances and the basic storyline, the film became a major hit at the South Indian box office. Owing to its success, it was later dubbed into the Hindi and Telugu language and released with the same name. The film was nominated by India as its entry for the Best Foreign Language Film for the Academy Awards in 1998

Aa Ab Laut Chalen (English language: Come, Let's Go Back) is a 1999 Bollywood romantic drama musical directed by Rishi Kapoor and written by Sachin Bhowmick. The film premiered in India and the United States on 22 January 1999. The film starred Rajesh Khanna, Akshaye Khanna (no relation), Aishwarya Rai, Suman Ranganathan, Navin Nischol, Kader Khan and Paresh Rawal.

Plot

Rohan is a jobless graduate living in the Delhi-based Khanna family with his widowed mother and grandfather. His father Balraj was ****ed in an accident many years ago. Rohan leaves Delhi for USA at the request of his friend to improve his life. He meets with Pooja Walia (Aishwarya Rai) and rooms with Iqbal, Chaurasia, and Sardar (Jaspal Bhatti, Satish Kaushik, and Kader Khan respectively). However, life in America is not what he expected. Without a stable job, Rohan is forced to reside with Indian cab drivers who take him in as a member of their family. The plot thickens when Rohan meets Pooja, a stunning Indian girl who is in the same predicament as he is and Loveleen, a spoiled rich kid with money to throw at Rohan's direction. Will Rohan be able to fulfill his lifelong dreams in America?
