Paheli

The 2005 movie Paheli was directed by Amol Palekar and has Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee in the lead roles. It is the story of the love between a human being and a ghost.

Lachchi i.e. Rani Mukherjee is married to Kishen i.e. Shah Rukh Khan, the son of a merchant. Lachchi is disappointed when Kishen does not even look at her on their wedding night, doing his bookkeeping instead. He leaves on a 5-year business trip the day after their marriage, leaving behind a sad Lachchi. Happiness and colours once again enter her life when a ghost, who has fallen for Lachchis beauty on the day of their wedding, takes the form of Kishen and enters her life. Slowly and gradually, Lachchi falls in love, too, with the charming and friendly ghost who is disguised as Kishen.

Krrish

Krrish is one of the more recent sci-fi films of Bollywood. This 2006 movie was directed by Rakesh Roshan, and has Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan in the lead roles. It is the love story between an ordinary human being Priya i.e. Priyanka and a superhero Krrish aka Krishna, played by Hrithik Roshan.

Krishna saves camper Priya from a hang glider accident and falls for her. Later, Priya and her friend Honey, decide to make a television program about the extraordinary abilities of Krishna. Krishna, under a promise not to reveal his supernatural powers to anyone, performs miracle after miracle under the guise of Krrish and captures the heart of everyone, including Priya.

Mr. India

Mr.India is one of the most famous and most loved science fiction movies of Bollywood. The 1987 Shekhar Kapur movie has Anil Kapoor and Sridevi in the title roles, while Amrish Puri plays the famous villain Mogambo.

Arun i.e. Anil Kapoor finds an invisibility device developed by his late father, and decides to use it to save his country from the malicious intentions of Mogambo i.e. Amrish Puri and his henchmen, under the moniker of Mr. India. Seema i.e. Sridevi, who happens to be a reporter and a tenant in Anil Kapoors house, is saved by Mr. India from Mogambos men on a couple of occasions, and she falls in love with him, without knowing that he is Arun. The film beautifully depicts the romance between the mortal Seema and the invisible man Mr. India.

Junoon

Mahesh Bhatt’s 1992 film Junoon is another dangerous love story, with Pooja Bhatt and Rahul Roy in the lead roles. Though lesser known in Bollywood, it was no less scary a movie.

This is the story of a middle-class surgeon Nita, played by Pooja Bhatt, who is in love with a musician-singer named Ravi, played by Avinash Wadhavan. A wealthy patient Vikram Chauhan, played by Rahul Roy, falls for Nita, and convinces her parents to give him her hand in marriage. Nita plans to elope with Ravi, but their plans are foiled by Vikram. It later becomes known that Vikram is a human by day, but turns into a tiger at night.

Bees Saal Baad

This 1988 movie was directed by Rajkumar Kohli, and had Dimple Kapadia and Mithun Chakraborthy in the lead roles. It is the dangerous love story of a ghost and a mortal.

Suraj (Mithun Chakraborthy) is married to Kiran (Meenakshi Sheshadri). When Suraj and Kiran visit her father Thakur at his village, they have an encounter with a ghost Nisha (Dimple Kapadia). Suraj has a dream about Nisha, in which she claims to be his wife from a previous birth, who is still in love with him. Nisha uses her magical powers to try to bring Suraj under her control.
