Television shows come and go with every season. At times, they are so beloved that you don’t want them to say adieu but then there are some who never made any place in your heart. Here’s a look at shows that will go off air in a week- some shined bright every night while others were merely a twinkle.

Kismat
Yashraj production’s tried garnering better trps second time round on Sony tv with differentiated yet contemporary content. They launched Kismat and Khote Sikkey both aimed at appeasing the youth. Though both shows had powerful content and storyline yet they couldn’t engage the audiences. Yashraj’s first daily soap Kismat was a saga of two powerful individuals with a story spanning over 60 years- a la Kane and Abel. Viraf Patel and Rahul Bagga acted their parts with honesty showing off their histrionics. Launched on February 14, Kismat will go off air this week. It will be replaced by Ekta Kapoor’s romantic tale Bade Achhe Laggte Hai… Yeh Dharti, Yeh Nadiya, Yeh Rainna Aur Tum starring Sakshi Tanwar and Ram Kapoor which starts May 30 at 10.30 pm on Sony.

Sanjog Se Bani Sangini
Zee TV’s Sanjog Se Bani Sangini marked the return of Iqbal Khan and Aditi Gupta and was hyped as the debut Dance India Dance’s Binny Sharma. But due to dismal trps the show will wrap up in first week of June. Sangini began on August 16, 2010, with a great bang and reached high point when Rudr and Gauri get married and also when they realise their love for each other. But soon the ratings dropped and rumours were that the channel put the show under scanner in March. The low ratings were due to high competition from Colors show Uttaran. Though Sangini brought in loads of drama post March, it couldn’t get back to the initial high.

Rishton Se Badi - Pratha
Color’s Rishton Se Badi Pratha based on caste system and honour ****ing, failed to create impact from the word go even with it’s bold theme. It was under scanner from the Information and Broadcast Ministry for violent scenes too. Soon the lead Shalini Chandran was replaced with a much popular actress Parul Chauhan but that didn’t help much. There were plans for Pratha to take a leap but when the existing cast didn’t agree, the channel and the production house decided to wrap up the show. Pratha will have a happy ending before the show goes off-air. Rishton Se Badi Pratha will wrap up to make space for Hamari Saas Leela. Watch a light hearted Gujarati family based show, Hamari Saas Leela from 30th May at 7 pm on Colors.

Kitani Mohabbat Hai
Imagine’s Kitani Mohabbat Hai 2, a second season of the popular serial Kitani Mohabbat Hai didn’t fair as well as expected. Launched on 1st November 2010, the show did showcase actors Kritika Kamra as the extrovert Arohi and Karan Kundra as the gangster Arjun. Now the show will be replaced by Swayamvar 3- Ratan Ka Rishta which is Imagine's next big reality show. With Hiten Tejwani as host, and spunky girl Ratan Rajput searching for her Mr Right, this season of Swayamvar should be interesting. The show launches May 30 at 8pm on Imagine.

Gunaho Ka Devta
Imagine’s Gunaho Ka Devta was launched on 20 September 2010 and producer Shakuntalam Telefilms who gave hits like Na Aana Iss Des Laado and Banoo Main Teri Dulhann were hopeful of yet another hit but alas the show will come to an end within eight months of telecast. Gunaho Ka Devta is about Avdesh Singh Thakur alias Bhaiyyaji who rules the town of Lallanpur. Arpita idolises Avdesh who respects women and does good deeds in society. These unlikely people fall in love leading to drama, ****** and more. Now the show will be replaced by Swayamvar 3- Ratan Ka Rishta which will be an hour long show on Imagine.

Jhansi Ki Rani
Zee tv’s Ek Veer Stree Ki Kahaani... Jhansi Ki Rani is a superbly hit historical television series created by Contiloe Telefilms. The story based on the life of Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi, who led the Indian Rebellion of 1857, started August 18, 2009. Now the story comes to a dramatic yet logical end. Jhansi Ki Rani started with Manu, an eight-year-old girl’s tale who later became Rani Lakshmi Bai. Ulka Gupta played the younger Rani brilliantly while the older Rani Lakshmi Bai enacted by Kratika Sengar too was very good. Zee replaces Jhansi Ki Rani with yet another historical show Shobha Somanth Ki that stars Yash Tonk and Amrita Raichand. It is an inspiring tale of Gujarat’s Rani Shobhana who withstood the fiery invasion by the Mughal emperor Ghazni.

Bhagonwali
Zee’s Bhagonwali- Baante Apni Taqdeer premiered on December 6, 2010 but never really did register with the audiences. The story was of Runjhun brings good luck and fortune wherever she goes, yet her own life is riddled with misfortune. It will be replaced by a light hearted family drama called Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuyein starring Ashiesh Roy and Vibha Chibber.

Ganga Ki Dheej
Sahara One’s Ganga Kii Dheej which premiered on November 15, 2010 will soon end. The story that dealt with the ordeals of young unmarried girls in a village called Kaliganj based in rural West Bengal starred big names like Kabir Bedi and Ashwini Kalsekar. The show never did pick up on the trps and now will be replaced by already on-air show Rishton Ke Bhawar Main Ulji…Niyati which used to air at 8pm. In a while, SaharaOne will launch their new mythological show Jai Jai Bajranj Bali at 8pm.
