Snaptu aggregates information from a number of popular websites using widgets; small apps that are dedicated to getting information from a single site or service. You have access to Facebook, Twitter, Picasa, Cricinfo and a host of others, all from a single application and without having to open a browser.

The information is designed to fit on smaller screens and you don’t need to bother about typing in URLs. All this in an interface with iPhone-esque icons stacked neatly in a grid with a black background. Not only does it work, it looks good too!

Many people use Google not just for searching but also for news, weather, stock and even for keeping an eye on the latest movie in town. For this kind of use, iGoogle is perfect because it does all this - keeps tab on your Gmail account etc.

It works on most handsets with minimum fuss. It’s not a downloadable app, but rather a customisable Web page. And, while it may not look as jazzy as some of the others mentioned here, it’s hard to beat as far as its utility is concerned.
